Word of warning: these are bright. Cannot be overstated. Imagine BayerDynamic DT 77/88/990 but in an IEM. If you're treble sensitive (as I am), you'll need a passive equalizer to tame the upper freq range. I was really close to returning them because I thought they were defective but after listening to a coworker's copy I became convinced it's just a characteristic of these IEMs. To be clear for $100 you can't go wrong with these unless, like me, you're treble sensitive. Otherwise these sound pretty great, with great definition and instrument separation. In hifi don't expect miracles, though, you get what you pay for :)

rdodevAfter FINALLY finding a set of tips that work for me I have to say these ARE DT 990 ish. In a good way. I don't think any of the stock tips work for me. The Med foamies did improve things for me last night but I was STILL getting an overall thin sound. Tonight I tried the tips that are included with the Audio Technica E40 which surprisingly have the small 2 mm opening the EDC3 needs. I've been using Sony Hybrid tops in my E40 so I never even thought of using the included tips with the EDC3. I was SHOCKED at first listen. COMPLETELY different iems now! This is the immediate dynamic sound that BA is know for. The treble presence is improved. Upper mid peak reduced and the bass is MASSIVE, DEEP while retaining texture.
Ok now that I'm finally headed in the right direction with tips has anyone tried Spinfits or JVC Spiral Dots? The Audio Technica tips are very thick with a wider bore and stiffer center tube. Listening to some Deadmau5.....and I'm FLOORED!
I thought these were overhyped which is why I shelved them since May and only pulled them out periodically.
I still need to do some more listening but going from the E40 ......which have a nice visceral bottom end even with the Sony Hybrid tips which are in the thin side.....to the EDC3 on bass heavy tracks I'm not missing anything.
This is the sound signature I was expecting from the marketing.
