These are awesome looking, but I can't get over the cost. To outfit a "normal" 133 key board, I think the keyset would cost more than some very expensive keyboards (I'm looking for my das keyboard 4 pro).
Am I missing something?
I love them, but not $150+ worth of love (MAYBE if they were doubleshot PBT)

dasmanWhat's a 133 key keyboard?
The Das Keyboard Pro 4, which is a 104key, can be equipped for 122 plus shipping with Oblivion Alphas, Git Modifiers and Oblivion Numpad. If that is worth the price is different for everyone. For me its a bargain as it is a design that you won't find anywhere else with a set of unique legends (Git) in a very desirable SA profile (subjectively).
It's all up to you!

OblotzkySorry, I mistyped. I don't know where I came up with 133... My bad.
Am I coming up with the correct price? Alphas $43 + modifiers $51 + numbers $36 + arrows $10 = $140? Do I need the spacebar pack as well, or does the alphas spacebar work?
My concern is that my abs keys go shiny in about a year. I could see that price for PBT that last significantly longer... Any plans to do PBT version?

dasmanThose kits would do the trick, yes. A spacebar pack is not required, the DAS Pro 4 uses a regular 6.25 unit spacebar which is included in the Alphas kit.
ABS will shine with use, personally I don't mind it as it suits spherical caps very nicely from an aesthetic viewpoint, although others might have a different view on that.
A PBT version is not planned as it is currently not technically possible. Neither GMK Electronics (for Cherry profile) nor Signature Plastics offer doubleshot PBT production. PBT doubleshot is generally very rarely done, and dye-sublimation techniques don't work with this colorway either (can only dye darker legends on lighter keys, so no green on dark gray for example).

dasmanHigh quality, custom made keycaps by designers like Oblotzky, Matt3o, T0mb3ry, etc. who have meticulous attention to detail and work like crazy to make something really special do not come cheap. They're not mass-produced, that's why these don't ship for almost a year, so they're basically hitting the minimum quantities that manufacturers with equipment to make high quality keycaps will even consider doing a run at. So consider you're paying a master artisan to design them, and paying a manufacturer literally their worst price for keycaps because of how low the order size is, and you get expensive keycaps. I felt the same way you do when I bought my first mechanical keyboard several years ago, but I've stopped looking at keycaps as purely utility purchases and instead look at it like an art purchase. I have a $40 set of PBT keycaps I'm using to type this that are great, and they're mass-produced by Vortex, but they're also nothing special. I don't go crazy on keycaps like some, but I've waited for sets I truly love and in the past year that's amounted to 3 out of the dozens and dozens I've seen. And now that I'm at 3 sets from different designers, I doubt I will be buying more for quite a while.
If it helps at all, keycaps like these are usually worth what you paid for them for as long as you have them in good condition. And it's actually pretty common for them to be worth even more than what you paid, especially if you buy any kits that had few buyers overall. So if they come and you decide you don't want them anymore, I'm sure someone on /r/mechmarket would snatch them up in a second because they regret not getting in on this buy while it was live.
One last thing, from what I've seen the artist designed keycap kits rarely ever come in PBT. I assume it's just because ABS is a lot easier to work with, PBT is too brittle. PBT is great, don't get me wrong, but in terms of relatives it's like comparing a Ferrari to a Lamborghini. One is slightly better than the other (and in my analogy I wouldn't even know which one to say is better, haha), but compared to everything else they're both fantastic. Of the three high-quality keycap sets I've bought this year, only one is PBT (Matt3o's MT3 profile keycaps).
Best of luck in your shopping!

OblotzkyI didn't think I was buying anymore keycaps once I bought my 2nd set. I can't endorse these keycaps enough. :)
