WobertThe original Sprout as well as the new Sprout II includes a bass-boost which is sonically crucial for use with most loudspeakers, however Sprout II has been constructed with a defeatable-bassboost which means it adapts beautifully for use in any loudspeaker system. Hope that helps!
ScottMcGowanI don't think any amplifier manufacturer would claim that bass-boost is "sonically crucial." How is the bass boost defeatable in the Sprout II?
wcg66Thanks and you are right, absolutely. Perhaps I could clarify to say that most bookshelf speakers respond very positively to this bass boost. To disable/enable, one must press and hold the push-button volume knob (knob on the left). The indicator light will blink and then the light will turn blue instead of white, which is your indication that the amplifier is now in no-filter mode. Hope that helps!
ScottMcGowanHi Scott, does Sprout II also have the same preamp-stage bass cutoff (below 70 Hz) as Sprout I, and if so does the new "defeat" feature also eliminate this cutoff? For example is the headphone output bandlimited in any way?
ralphgonzHi ralphgonz, thanks for the great question. The bass-boost is only present on the loudspeaker terminals. The headphone output, analog outputs, and subwoofer output are all full level, all variable, no filter. And the bass-defeat does not in anyway affect the headphone, analog, or subwoofer signals. Sound good? Thanks!
satchmo Thanks and you are right, perhaps I could modify "crucial" to say that most bookshelf speakers respond very positively to this bass boost. Thanks for your time and please keep any questions you may have coming!
