Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

But it had one major flaw that knocked it out of my system - there was a tracking imbalance in the low volume portion of the potentiometer that just made it unusable for my application. I was using it as a stereo sound system for my TV with some Klipsch tower speakers.
While it sounded great, I found that the signal from some streaming services like Pandora played through a Roku were fairly hot. So the potentiometer tracking error made the amp unusable at regular listening levels. By the time I turned it past the imbalance, the volume was too loud. Really unfortunate, and so it's packed up in a box in my closet.
It's too bad that quality control issues like that basically make something that's otherwise great unusable, and will probably turn me off to purchasing another one, original or V2, going forward.
In my opinion, the walnut wood panel on top looks really nice on the silver aluminum model. Being a natural material, the patterns vary, so you may get one that looks fantastic, one that looks fine, or one that doesn't look all that great. But I like the visual warmth it gives to the amp (I agree, though, that the all black amp doesn't look that attractive with wood in the pictures. As a design critique, the wood veneer on the black amp should be some sort of very dark shade of wood in order to look correct with the all black amp, IMO. The lighter walnut just looks out of place there).
Remote control on this one is most welcome, too. I've been keeping my system in a closed wood cabinet and controlling it with one of those Logitech smart hubs, so a remote is a must.
Also, on a strictly design related note, the new vent cutouts on the sides make the new amp look much more cluttered than the original, which didn't have those vents. It bugs me, but might not bother anyone else.
