here is my review, received yesterday.... mostly disappointed
received in a fairly large package box with air bubble packing. the rama box was dented, it was held together with a small sticker which was open and not bent across the box to keep it locked. fortunately, the box did not open up and the screws remained intact. this should have shipped in a bubble envelope, instead of inside a large box, i was fortunate it didn't open, losing the screws.
packaging looked cheap. really thing stock, thinner than my business cards. printing was in a fancy holo ink, and inside was yellow, but packaging was dented on the outside, and inside was 2 pieces of cheap plastic form molding holding 3 grub screws, an allen key, and the parts. considering that the cheap metal fidget spinners at the mall kiosk come with fancy metal/foam boxes, the packaging on this was extremely cheap. and also given the price, i was surprised it was shipped unassembled.
i ordered black brass/rose gold. the rose gold is totally just pink, based on the stock images, i was expecting it to be more of a copper tone.
the finish on the parts are is smooth, and the black piece came out mostly nice, but the "rose gold caps" are super lightweight. there was a burr/nick on the inside of the black part where one of the screwholes is. It is hidden, and did not impact my ability to assemble or use the device.
by having to manually set all of the grubs, i think it might create a possibility to have an imbalanced mount, I think a different retention system such as with a ring clip may have been a better choice.
the bearing is total crap. it's not smooth, and it's loud.
when assembled, i couldnt get the spinner to spin for more than about 12 seconds max (using a stopwatch) and it had a very very loud noise, with an oscillating sound. I unscrewed and reset it several times concerned it was a balance issue, i dont think it was. I'm gonna need to source a new bearing to make this thing worthwhile. Definitely cant use this at my desk in the office, it's way too loud.
finding it very hard to justify the cost relative to the quality of other competing products in the price class, including by other niche small scale manufacturers. This breaks my heart as i am a maker and i design products myself, and i love supporting these types of things and businesses, but some weird corners got cut given the price and I'm not super satisfied with the result.
redeeming qualities: the black piece is mostly very nicely machined. the weight is great. the feels great, and it looks pretty
tldr: cheap packaging, weird design, nice finish, rose gold was pink, bad bearing, short spin: ultimately disappointed, but could change with a bearing upgrade (for another 15-20$?!)
