So now after reading a few more experiences, and tinkering around with my own some more, I have a few more conclusions of my own. I've read the MD email blast, and also kept up with random postings here. MD has stated that they are close to recommending some bearing solutions based on their testing.
So I would just like to express to Massdrop to please not just use another inexpensive single walled bearing. Based on my tests, I don't feel anything short of something like the Kong adapter (or like product and quality), will be any better than the original (Failed ) bearings. The reason I say this has mostly to do with the very loose tolerances that have been mentioned by myself and many others posting here.
First with the seemingly random inside diameter of the bearing location in center frame. When a bearing is placed in one frame, and is tight, but the next ten units are sloppy, too much precision is needed from the grub screws to anchor, center, true, and maintain even plane on axis. And all of that must be done by the average end user. But now you compound the problem because the three grub screw port threading is also very sloppy (read as loose tolerances), chances of success are now exponentially more difficult (read as near impossible). Now add to that some very poorly made grub screws, and be sure to not add any spares, because even if all three that were tossed loose into an unsealed package, you are positive that every end user will have a technician style work bench with magnification and magnetic small part catch trays.
So now you receive that new and improved $0.08 bearing, the instant one screw receives the tiniest bit too much force, that new bearing is now out of round, and no better than any others "broken" ones.
So, back to my original conclusion, this product needs an adapter styled bearing to function adequately for the majority of the owners. Personally I ordered a Kong, because it seemed to be mentioned most in the forums I read. But I'm sure anything made similar, and to quality specs would work. I only have a couple dozen spinners, but tried just about every combination possible while attempting to debug my shiney new Remedy. And for my case, the jury is in..... The remedy for my Remedy is Mr. Kong. Even with all the spinners I had at my disposal to find useable combination, only the Kong gave me the result that I was originally expecting from this drop.
I really beleive Massdrop needs to be working with FidgetHQ to find an equitable solution to deliver the product quality we were all convinced we would receive.

BflyingThe Kong pretty much solves everything. But then I can't use the stock caps, I think they look better and they are more flush to the spinner. Maybe Rama can design some official 22mm r188 caps... that would be nice.

awkI totally agree with you. The Rama caps do look great. At first it really bugged me to change the look so much from the image I had been anticipating for so long. But after flicking it around some more, I have come to appreciate the extra retention given by the deeper dishes. Lots of trade-offs unfortunately. On the bright side, I now have a $3 plastic spinner with greatly upgraded caps. 😎
I think I remember in early discussions that upgrades and options would be coming down the road. I guess that's assuming this early hickup is handled well enough to satisfy the masses.
