Beautiful design! I prefer this design over a flipper style knife all day, every day. I don’t know a lot about this steel. I tried reading through the comments on my handheld and couldn’t quite make a description out, so a link or something brief would be appreciate.

ojinsaApparently it's intended as a cheaper-to-produce alternative to premium steels like S30V or S35VN, and it's intended to be able to be treated to a higher Rockwell hardness of ~62 while still retaining its toughness. There's a long and decently involved review here if you want to look at it, but the tl;dr of it is that it performs pretty well. His test units appear to be heat treated to a lower hardness of 58-60, so it might or might not be comparable to this knife in the end, but there are tons of pictures and some actual use involved, so it's worth a look.

I'm thinking it seems pretty fair for this price at the very least, and might in fact be a huge bargain depending on how the steel is heat treated. Just generally speaking I've heard pretty good things about it elsewhere. But in reality, buying a full-sized Griptilian in 154CM is going to cost you nearly as much, and I'm certain this steel compares favorably. The G10 handle certainly does. The bigger question for me would be in the ergonomics and function of the lock. Millit is pretty outstanding based on what I've seen and read, so I can't imagine there will be much problem in the knife's execution. Only real unknown for me is the designer, whom I've heard of before, but not much. Seems like a very talented guy from what I've read though. Just the fact that he's interacting in the comments here inclines me in his favor as well.

ojinsaAlso, just for reference for you and anybody else reading this, the RMJ Tactical Utsidihi 3.375" (cutting edge length) fixed blade in nitro-v steel is currently $190 on their site. So $109 for this drop really probably is a great deal.

DocZZZThat is not entirely true. While more steel does equal higher cost, that is not all that defines the price of the product. It's usually not even the bulk of the cost, especially not with a folding knife. I've rarely seen comparably sized folding knives versus fixed blades that were tremendously different in cost because of the amount of material used. Generally the complexity of manufacturing the folding knife will make up for any difference that a few more ounces of steel might have made in cost.
