There Are Pandas, and Then There Are Pandas.
And this isn't either of them! The Pandas we're talking about here, are watches, not bears. And what got me thinking about them (again) was a link posted this morning by @cm.rook who pointed a few of us to the very attractive (and not terribly priced) Yema "Rallygraph" Panda which, in it's most traditional arrangement, looks like the one on the left, but can also be had in the version on the right: The model on the left is a true Panda, while the model on the right is called a reverse Panda. The reason for that distinction is clear--Panda bears, only come in the first arrangement. Now at this point, everyone should be thinking about the most well-know Panda, The Rolex Panda, which is actually a Daytona, and among Rolex Daytonas, the most famous of which is the Paul Newman Daytona, which was famous first, because it was Paul's, and second because it sold at auction for $17.8 million (US Dollars). The story of that auction is well-known so I'll only...

If you don’t want to wait the additional time for the blade, you can cancel your order via the transactions page: https://www.massdrop.com/transactions. We’ll provide an update on the production status in late June.
In other words, they may have had a few hundred still to cut when that pic was taken; even if that's the whole stack, I'm sure this email /post was very carefully written, and then very carefully scrutinzed before going out. The worst, worst thing MD could do in a message like this, an update/apology would be to make an typo and (for example) say that the knives will be shipped in June rather than July.
In other words, given that the pic doesn't necessarily show every single blank that had to be cut and might instead have been taken while the cutting was still in progress; and given that there was probably some delay between when this message was written and actually sent...it's probably cool. I dont think theres anything jenky going on. PROBABLY not...
I made up my mind that 8/1 was the date the knife ought to be ready by. So get it to me, or at least on its way by then and Im content.
Can't wait for my signed sketch. And the longer blade on the actual knife looks very good. VERY good.
One thing good I will say about the wait: it cuts down on collectors scooping up a bunch of a desirable product so they can resell it immediately, or relatively soon anyway, at a higher price. And from the few examples I've seen, the MD-exlcusive knives resell for 10 to 25% more than the original cost on the secondary market.
Even still...man, I hate waiting for toys.
