I'm disappointed. Overall, the sound is too crisp - crisp as in shrill. The sound lacks roundness, depth and warmth. Whether the audio source is CD or streaming (Spotify), or I listen to music loudly or softly, the sound hurts my ears. Tracks from Kid A should be rich and layered; Pink Floyd should be round and full. On the HD 58X, Beastie Boys and Thundercat are one-dimensional with vocals forced to the forefront; the highs are too pointed when I listened to Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, and Lonnie Liston Smith. This is unfortunate, because this is the kind of music I listen to. I tried one of my favorite classical albums, Gorecki's "Symphony No. 3" - the sound was decent, certainly better than everything else I mentioned, but I still wouldn't say these headphones separated themselves from others. I know these aren't high-end audiophile headphones, but I absolutely expected them to distinguish themselves from entry-level Bose headphones.

Bc that could be the reason why it doesn't sound good.
Think about it, there's ton of people who own other high end headphones and own these and they compare them close if not better!!
To be honest, I'm listening to mine direct from my smartphone without any dac/amp and they sound pretty darn good, and I can only imagine what these sound like with a proper dac or amp!!
Also, if you're reviewing a "straight out of the box" experience that could be another reason why it doesn't sound right.
You have to let it break in, it's a big difference!!

LAH_SeaWAU should take out the foam from behind the grills, the difference in quality is night and day!!
The soundstage opens up and the highs become much clearer.. in short MUCH BETTER!!!

Mendy770I will definitely give it a go and be patient while they're breaking in. I've been listening through a MacBook Pro, so nothing too fancy, perhaps that's even part of the problem. Hopefully your suggestions will enrich the bass and decrease the brightness. Thank you for the tips!

LAH_SeaWAMy pleasure, if you want, there's a video in the discussion section which shows how to take out the foam. And the guy who did it says how he was disappointed with the sounds (just like u) and how after he takes the foam out, the headphones sound very similar to his hd 650, which is incredible, I don't own the hd 650 but there considered high quality so I can only imagine :)

LAH_SeaWAFriend, that is not part of the problem, but THE problem. Without a good DAC and amp, they won't sound like they should. They need a clean signal and clean power. All high impedance headphones do. It's not an option. All my expensive headphones sound horrible out of my Mac's output except the Audio-Technica ATH-M70x, which are 32 ohm and really sensitive. My 65 ohm Shure SRH1840 are very sensitive on paper, but sound weak and bother my ears even on low volume when unamped. But when amped, I can listen to them at a much higher volume and my ears feel good, because everything sounds even and clean. But impedance isn't everything. The beyerdynamic T90 get louder than the Shures on the same volume, and they're 250 ohm. God bless!

LAH_SeaWAThe output you will receive from these cans is only as good as the source that you are using. As previously mentioned, you might need a better audio source, including the audio format like FLAC compared to Mp3 and so on, to experience the full potential of these headphones. Another reason that you are not enjoying these, is that the sound signature that they produce is not really compatible with your own preferred sound signature.

Ringing in PC38X's
I recently got this headset, and wow is it good. My only issue is when certain people talk on discord, I can hear a really high pitched ringing. I fiddled with a bunch of settings, computer audio and discord, and nothing seems to solve the issue. It is primarily if not all in my right ear only. Is there something wrong with my headset, or was that ringing always there I can just hear it cause the headset is THAT good? I haven't had any issues with any other application, though I have yet to test if I can hear the ringing on a different version of discord, say on my xbox instead of my pc. Only other issue I've had is occasional static, but I can't tell if it's from the headset or the show/game/etc.

Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

Recommendation for my next headphone set? I have Koss 95x
Hey all, What would you recommend I get next and why? I have Koss ESP-95x electrostatic massdrop headphones. These are my first and only audiophile set. I love them. I think my only real requirements is $500 or less for the headphones and that they have a little more low end. I don’t need thump but these are really light on lows…but the experience is still awesome. Also any recommendations on an amp? I only have my electrostatic thingy. Should I exchange the PC38X for better headphones?
I bought the PC38X headphones FOR GAMING and they are great, but I have NO use for a Microphone since I don't do competitive gaming and I was wondering if there were better headphone options at a similar price without a headphone, where (presumably) more of the cost was put into making it sound better.
