This is my first Massdrop purchase and overall impressions are pretty positive. First off I'm really happy with the shipping. These were in stock at the time I ordered mine on a Sunday and it shipped out on Tuesday from PA and got here to CA on Friday morning. It has been quite good for the day I've used them so far. Really comfortable other than it being a little tight. Not very comfortable with my glasses on. I expect that will fix itself after usage. I play CSGO and can pinpoint where people are by their footsteps and gunshots. Previous headset was a Razer Kraken 7.1 that I've had since 2014 and they served me well, but it was time to move on as the ear cups were worn down to the styrofoam and they weren't the most comfortable after hours of gaming. I was looking into going the headphones/modmic route but saw these and prefered how you can flip the mic to mute, that there is a volume adjust on the right cup, and only one cable is needed. Compared to my Krakens, these are obviously better in terms of sound quality and soundstage, but the Krakens did actually work really well for CSGO to the point where I questioned which headset was actually hands down the best at pinpointing enemies by sound. Overall I am really happy with this purchase and Massdrop so far. Great buy and highly recommended, especially at the $119.99 price tag. These have now me looking into getting real audiophile headphones now.

RawlingsheartI will also be getting the PS4 cable for it and testing that soon. Preferably the single cable instead of 2 to 1 adapter.

RawlingsheartThis is my first purchase at Massdrop, hopefully this will be good for gaming. I've been using standalone audio and mic, but I've been meaning to get one that has both for the convenience as well as keep some good quality to it. I liked your review of it so I joined the drop and considering the price, it's a really great deal. Thanks!

k1n3t1cGlad my review helped you! Honestly you'll love it. The past 3 days just confirmed my initial impressions: very comfortable with great sound quality. Also make sure you adjust the mic settings when you first use it. All my settings were set pretty low because my old headset/mic had it's own app that you could make adjustments to and that's where I had made mine. For this headset I had to change settings in both steam and windows.

RawlingsheartYeah for sure. I can't wait to receive mine in the mail! I'm definitely probably going to mess around with some equalizers to get the best mic quality.

RawlingsheartDoes this require an amp or something?

k1n3t1cI've been using it just through my mobo which isn't anything special (MSI PCmate Z97) and they sound good to me. A dac/amp would probably make it sound even better but I've never used one so I couldn't tell you. A lot of the comments recommend one though and I do plan to get one down the road with a nice pair of headphones. But if you're money strapped or don't plan to go down the rabbit hole then I'd say you're fine without one.

RawlingsheartThanks for the reply! I'll prob invest in a DAC/AMP later down the road to use this to the full advantage. I have a Z77 Sabertooth, kinda old, but should be good enough? :)

k1n3t1cYou'll be fine without a DAC/AMP, I use these through my Xbox one controller with no issue. I also plug them into my PC with no issue at all. That being said, I also have plugged them into my JDS The Element, and it makes a difference but not one worth buying an amp for these headphones. If you get a higher end set of headphones down the line that is when you will probably want a DAC/AMP.
