GoombyHow much sound leakage is there? Will people in the room be able to hear voices through this?

clonex10100It really depends on how loud your headphones typically are. I have never had an issue of echoing voices in chats but I don't like high volume levels. If you crank up the volume then I can see voice echo being a potential issue.

AverySegawpeople in the room hearing you is the least of your worries. It's the people that you will be playing with that will be able to hear themselves and the game volume coming back through your microphone. Get some nicer sennheisers.

GoombyThese are perfectly adequate. I have used these for almost a year and have never had such an issue. I would need to crank them up to ear-damaging levels to do that.

GoombyThis is an issue with your sound card/drivers. It's pretty common.

Goombyused these bad boys at fairly high volume for about 6 hours yesterday on PS4, right after they came in, and had zero problems.

GoombyAs AverySegaw implied, the volume output can be set uncomfortably high on the PC37X and still not have it acoustically picked up by the microphone. To add to what hasunet said, issues like this are usually due to crosstalk between the microphone and chat audio channels.
Is the game and chat audio being echoed, or just the chat conversation?
If the issue is just with chat, then try unplugging the PC37X, wait a few seconds, then reinserting the plug. You can also try powering your controller off then back on, or restarting your PlayStation. If you have another controller, you can try using that.
If the issue is an echo of both chat and game audio for the people in your party, the troubleshooting above may work too. Also, make sure the headphone cable and any adapters are firmly connected and plugged in fully at both the controller and headset entry. You could also try seeing if using the same TRRS adapter works in a smartphone during a phone call, to see if the echo issue truly is hardware.
These echo issues are usually software glitches. The above troubleshooting, Sony tech support, and Sennheiser tech support can all help you out.

SennheiserI just got these and I'm extremely pleased overall... however, I'm having a similar issue where people in voice chats (Discord) can hear what I'm listening to. The strange thing is that I even raised the mic to mute it and the sound was still being picked up. The mic was muted and they couldn't hear me talking... but the could hear my game though. I don't have any other recording devices so I don't understand how this is possible.
Edit: If I mute the mic they can only hear for example music if I crank it up. I understand that being open-back, sound escapes and therefore can be picked up... I just don't understand how this is possible if the mic is muted. I tried screaming into it while being raised and didn't pick up my voice. People on the other side though, can listen clearly to my music, to the point that it seems as if I'm streaming it.

LaroI've run into a similar problem with my Turtle Beach P11. The mic's not the problem, it's an issue of poor shielding between the audio and mic lines somewhere inside the headset itself. I used to think it was a problem on the computer's end, but it's followed me through three different computers and multiple chat programs, with that one headset being the only common link.
From this, and several other things I've seen on this discussion page, it sounds like the manufacturing QA on these is subpar. I don't need something aerospace-grade, but I expect better than this from a headset over $100.
