A few questions please: 1) whats the sus410 cladding for? 2) what type of cladding is it? San-mai, Warikomi, or Ni-mai? 3) is SG2 susceptible to chipping? Thanks

LazarusLong1) To minimize use of the expensive steel 2) San-mai - see below the spine of Spyderco Caly with ZDP-189 core and 420J2 cladding

LazarusLongthe 410 helps with corrosion resistance. basically it protects your expensive core steel, even though spec-wise sg2 looks to be very corrosion resistant; a lotttt of chromium so corrosion shouldn't be an issue. the lamination using 410 could ease manufacturing or help with the rigidity of the knife, since the delica is pretty thin. Not sure about chipping; it has a pretty high rockwell, but since it is used a lot in chefs knives, it should be pretty resistant to chipping. most of this is speculation, so take it with a grain of salt

method_burgerI’m really excited about this, and did some research hence the questions. So far I’ve read that it is a bit chippy in Japanese chef knives. But I’ve read in some forums it’s not so I’m a bit unsure. But I think I’ll get it anyway. I love the Delica.
