LuckyBoiI'll openly admit Laser is my favourite project of all time but I'm biased because purple is my favourite colour. My favourite set would have to be between DSA hyperfuse (didn't like SA/GMK, doesn't fit the colour scheme imo), Laser and Miami Dolch but Yuri is definitely up there with them and it doesn't even have purple so that's saying something!
I'd already set to buy both Yuri and Laser no matter the cost, the fact this comes out under $150 shipped for Cyrillic + icon mods + spacebars + glorious kit is just icing on the cake.
VigrithI'm still new to the mech/keyboard community and all the GMK/DSA acronyms or whatever. But i see that people ooze over some of these creators/designers enough to realize what people like and what they dont, not to mention what people are willing to pay for. Also the effort people are putting into these things.
VigrithI am in the same boat. Yuri and Laser will be mine. I built 2 boards specifically for those sets when I first saw the ICs.
I suspect you have seen black lotus as well? You seem to stay on top of these things, but given your love of purple I just wanted to make sure you have seen it :)
EDIT: of course you have seen black lotus, you are all over that IC thread lol
VigrithI was committed to the K-Type and Nautilus but now Laser took over from Nautilus. My wallet can't handle both Nautilus & Laser so there's no way I can even consider Yuri. Sad!
eapdangI decided to pass on the K-Type, the case is not to my liking, the RGB is sort of irrelevant to me as are the shine-through caps. I feel as though they tried to cater to everyone and in the process they lost some of the more quirky enthusiasts' interest.
Definitely in for Yuri and Laser but since I recently went in for like 250 on Miami Dolch too, I think I might have to skip Nautilus. It's incredible too, lovely set and I have nothing but respect for Zambumon but the colour scheme doesn't call to me as much as the others do. I'll still try to get in on it but given the time-line it's not looking likely.
VigrithI actually prefer the original case of the K-Type without the LED strip, RGB yes/no/don't really mind that it's there. I just can't imagine myself going for the high-end customs and spending that much money on just a kit so the K-Type is literally the next best thing for me. Plus I've been following it for so long now that I just can't not have that payoff :)
Nautilus only popped to me when Zambumon added the yellow spacebar kit so yeah, the blue on blue does not intrigue me much either. That is the same reason why originally I didn't get into Laser until very recently when I looked again at all the kits. Now there is much more pink/magenta that it suits my preference better. And I'm pinning my hope on a laughing man logo novelty as a special special treat to me.
breakerjumpLaser is in its interest check phase, and should be available as a drop in a few(-ish) months. Nautilus is preparing to drop on next month. So, neither are available yet for purchase.
If you haven't already, I would subscribe to the keyboards community of massdrop, then they will email you a week or so any big keycap set dropping
LuckyBoimech keyboard forums (e.g. geekhack, mechanical keyboards subreddits, deskthority) all have interest check sections, where the designers present their ideas before they are in the group buy stage. Once massdrop indicates the sets will be dropped (or the decision is made to run the group buy through another vendor), that info is normally passed on in the interest check threads.
breakerjumpI _think_ it is pretty comprehensive. However, I am not the expert in that area, I use geekhack for pretty much all the interest check stuff.
