almost joined the drop, then i saw ZT0393 available for $240, hmm...... For $240 ZT seems like a better deal with CPM 20CV steel vs RWL34(which is essentially CPM154)..
massdrop01I’d take RWL-34 over 20CV any day of the week. Takes a really nice edge and has good properties. Ask the Grimsmos or the large number of custom makers using it. I agree about the warranty concerns, I haven’t needed to use a warranty on knife blades too often...but it has happened.
Cujobob20CV takes a really nice edge and has good properties too, so im baffled by your comment. TBH i haven't heard too many people saying they'll take RWL34/CPM154 over 20CV. They only "edge" RWL has over 20CV is being cheaper...
massdrop01It takes a finer edge, can be used in extremely thin stock, is extremely flexible, very tough, etc. 20CV has better edge retention at the cost of being much tougher to sharpen. M390 variants are good stuff, but RWL (or to a slightly lesser extent, CPM154) is better for most people in EDC use. If you look at steels based solely on edge retention and cost alone, you’ll miss out on some great stuff. Clyde Challenor has some good testing of RWL on his YouTube channel.
CujobobInvest a few dollars in a good sharpening system. M390 variants are not hard to sharpen unless you are using a budget sharpener. RWL is absolutely an inferior steel to M390.
