I'm excited for this. What is the warranty? I know it says "limited lifetime" but that doesn't really explain anything since "limited" can mean anything. Is there a written warranty, please?

qedbbKnives will be repaired or replaced if there are any manufacturer defects or quality issues. The warranty is voided if the customer modifies the knife. For help with this knife, or anything else you get here, contact Massdrop support by submitting a help ticket from your original transaction here: https://www.massdrop.com/transactions

qedbbSo you have to send back to massdrop? Because manufacturing is secret?

naterwWell, it would be cheaper and faster than sending it to China.

JonasHeinemanDoes that mean I can disassemble the knife, as long as I don't modify it? Does it really cover "any" quality issue? Normally companies provide written warranties that answer these kinds of questions. Even small makers do it. And legally speaking, without a written warranty, the only warranty is the weak statutory one.

JonasHeinemanSince there's no reply to the request for a written warranty, I'm going to have to pass on this one. Normally only the sketchy grey-market eBay sellers play this "I'll only tell you the warranty informally in conversation" game.

qedbbHey sorry for the delay. This drop has already ended, so you'd have to wait for future availability anyway. TL;DR - the warranty is a limited lifetime warranty against manufacturer defect. It covers everything except damage caused by the user - so, if you damage it while disassembling it, that would not be covered. Much better to just send it in if you think there's a problem.
Disassembly and "putting it back together EXACTLY the same way" accounts for over 50% of warranty claims, as reported by the vast majority of knife manufacturers (custom and production). Massdrop offers a 1-year warranty on all Massdrop Made items. I've let our teams know that knife buyers expect more, and we're working on a written policy to address this. In the meantime, we offer the same warranty that our manufacturers do - they are provided by contacting Massdrop. Generally, we'll replace something instead of fixing it because we don't have a service center that can fix knives and headphones and jeans and bags and keyboards and flashlights etc.
