Hi everyone, The Massdrop x Tashi Bharucha Prism Folding Knives are currently in transit to our warehouse in New Jersey. Once they arrive they will go through the receiving and quality control check process. We wanted to give everyone a heads up that the timeline will be tight, and we’ll be cutting it close for all units to ship by July 13. We’re still aiming to start shipping the knives on July 13, and we’re working with the warehouse to prioritize this. However, we expect the shipment to span into next week. We apologize for this slight delay!

This was a big drop, both in quantity and in community interest. Seems like a weird time to be dragging feet when they're this close to completing the drop

WoodyBaltoThis is a fairly complex design. I’d like to think they’re taking a little more time with random QC checks. Or they may have even discovered an issue with some of the knives and are working on a fix. Either way, I’m not worried. I’m sure we’ll all get our knives and be happy with them...but I agree...waiting sux!

Hopefully someone will look at the issue closely. let us know the real problem and REAL solution. I'm a big boy,I can handle the truth. Many companies will avoid being completely honest with you if they think you might freak out when they give you bad news.

WoodyBaltoTHIS!! I'm becoming increasingly annoyed with the same canned BS sounding replies. If it's another three weeks out, then just say it. The last drop I participated in was the same way. Perhaps I wasn't vocal enough. Just like you said tell us the truth rather than trying to baffle us with bull. While I'm slightly dissapointed it is taking a bit longer, the smoke and mirror insult to our intelligence is usually the sign of an operation on its way down........

greyworlderLike a few of have mentioned it's not the wait. It's the lack of communication from Massdrop. They have been using these discussions in the past and part of this drop with updates, then suddenly silence. Even now, no mention that they have begun shipping. We're left to info from others that shipping has actually begun.

NoseyThat's true, and it is unfortunate that it's happened that way. I won't judge though, because I've never been in their position, and I'm 100% certain I wouldn't do any better. Also, since I'm so excited about the knife getting to me I'm inclined to be pretty charitable.

WoodyBaltoI’ve contacted support twice to try to get information or my shipping address changed. If the drop had shipped on time, no problem, but work has forced me to move. I got a shipping label notice last night, but I’m gone Monday morning. All I’ve gotten from support is canned messages just like yours. It’s super frustrating when you are trying to fix a problem and no one answers.

greyworlderI'm 100% sure that when my projects are 3 weeks late that I provide my users status updates at least twice a week... It only takes 5 minutes to write a note to assure people that progress is still being made, make them feel like their needs matter and that you haven't forgotten about them.
If I sent out an update saying we're down to the wire and it's going to be tight to make the deadline, then didn't communicate at all for the next 2 weeks, people would be contacting me daily, and probably CC'ing my manager and director on the emails

KavikThen, in all seriousness, it sounds like they should offer you a job. I get my work done, pretty much always in a timely manner, but communication is not my strong point. I'm definitely not disagreeing with you in terms of an ideal set of circumstances, but I don't even want to imagine everything going on behind the scenes here. I do understand everybody else's frustration, I just don't happen to share it in this particular case.

It's saved my ass more than a few times lol When your "customers" are managers, directors, and VP's, and the reason protects fall behind is because other people keep changing the parameters, it's super important to keep everyone informed of the what's and the why's before things escelate.
Same thing here. We all know there are tons of moving parts behind the scenes, between when they receive the product and when it goes back out the door. Seems for the most part everyone has been cool with that, and just wanted a little more communication on how things are progressing.
I know for some people it's no big deal, but for me personally this is the most I've ever spent on a pocket knife, and it took some convincing for me to decide to join in the first place. I reallllly rarely ever play the role of the "entitled customer", but that's the way I'm feeling on this one. For me this is my biggest drop and most extravagant knife purchase to date, I don't think that expecting better communication when they fall behind schedule is an unreasonable thing to ask for. Just my 2 cents 😊

AveryCGot a Nice surprise today :) Received my Prism # Z0100 that shipped out last Thurs. (After such a long delay, Now the shipping was faster than expected :) ) It's a Awesome as i expected! Love the Dark Bronze handle and the silky Satin blade. My only nitpick is the placement of the text on the blade. It's not symmetrical. To be fair, I bet the tried it parallel to the blade hole and that looked strange too.

KavikEDC for the OCD :) Not to tease but ur gonna love this knife. We is killing It! The blade drops shut like it's on hydraulics. I have other knives that drop shut faster but this is just perfect. Nice slow drop with no shake required.

Is something that's been discussed a hundred times on every single knife colab, and supposedly it's more going to be changed because one person who's joined one drop, and made half a dozen comments since joining the site, emailed support?
Pardon my skepticism, but: a) like I said, I'll believe it when we see public confirmation from an MD employee, with pics and b) even if it's true, nothing in that guy's post specified the change will be made to that knife that's already in production

KavikI own one of the Todd Begg/Reate production knives. It's impeccable, a close second in my collection only to a knife that normally costs quite a bit more. For me it was the blade steel on this one that I haven't tried yet, but I hear good things. Mine won't be here for another couple of days unfortunately. How's the action on yours?

KavikLong Island is the worst when it comes to getting in and out of there. I wish my family would move somewhere else so I wouldn’t have go there to see them. We use to own property in the Catskills, southwest of Albany in the Stamford/Harpersfield/Jefferson area. Really small towns. We’d go there every summer. Loved it up there when I was a kid...catching snakes, fishing, spotting deer and other wildlife. Great memories from there. Where is the heavy sigh emoji? 🙂

Heard back from customer service and they told me the black on black pvd first production with laser engraved certificate is back order and I won't be able to get that one, which is the one I ordered... i don't get it. Did they not order right number is knives? So disappointing right now.
Did anyone who ordered the pvd black on black get theirs?
I have a choice of the other color with certificate but not the black with laser engraved certificate. I can get the black but it will be the non-first production version and only paper cert. I emailed back asking if they had the black ones in stock to ship as I don't want to wait for the next run, who knows if they will even open this up again for orders. They sent me the exact same email copy paste, no answers. Almost like it's a bot that is replying back to me..

Maybe you were the only one who ordered the black/black (I kind of doubt that, it’s beautiful) and it was too much trouble to do one knife that way? That’s a stretch, I know. I kind of wish they would show a breakdown of how many people bought which version of the knife, for all the drops.
The laser engraved certificate is a credit card sized piece of thin metal. I personally wouldn’t have cared if this wasn’t included with the knife (I guess that’s easy for me to say now, but who knows how I would feel if I thought I was the only one who didn’t get one), but I also don’t care about the pouches that so many of these knives all seem to come with these days. I might be in the minority with that though. Does non-first production mean no serial number on the knife?, because a serial number is important to me and is something I would want. I hope they’re able to resolve this for you.

First i was supposed to get it on Friday then they move it to Saturday and now it just says “Pending delivery” if they keep using this terrible servíce I’m just going to stop buying here. I have at least 9 or 10 more knifes orders in here, i won’t be placing any more until they look in to this horrible delivery service they got.

KavikI heard back from Tony, he's been nothing but cordial, For some reason his response was sandwiched between two of the exact same initial email response when viewed in the mobile gmail app...
There maybe another drop for the prism next week, and they do have the non-first production black on black prisms in stock and ready to ship. The following is just my deduction. So it sounds like for the next drop they'll have the knifes in stock and will have a much faster turn around time. I don't know if the the non-productions are serialized.
I'm down to the black/black or blue/stonewash with certificate.
anyone with these two blades have any feedback? Does the blue pop?

The second production run aren't supposed to be serialized, but I imagine a few might get lucky? If they ran the full batch the first time and they didn't all sell... But that's just a guess

Edit: but, from a collector standpoint, I guess I would take the blue with certificate and no serial number if you're the type to worry about future resale value.
And, if it were me, I'd also be wanting some compensation for not fulfilling an order i locked in before production even started, regardless of which option I ended up picking

It's been complained about more times than I can count on the 8 months of so I've been here...for their business model, I doubt they're going to change it any time soon 😒

zbuddahIt looks like BIMa got your black/black prism. He wanted the blue and got the black. I ordered and received the bronze, so I don’t know what the blue looks like. Some of the pictures of the blue look like they have dirty areas on them. I would find out what “non-first production” means. I think you might want one with a serial number on it. Non-first production sounds like no serial number to me. I hope this gets resolved.

JonasHeinemani got mine but the serial number on the card is not the serial on my blade... so my certificate of authenticity means dick for now... i put a support ticket in, we will see if this can be fixed, sounds like i may be screwed though if i cant find who got mine and they aren't willing to create more. this was the first higher priced collab i ever joined on massdrop.

zbuddahHey @zbuddah - Sorry to hear this, we do always order a few extra of every item so that we can have warranty units available, but any number of things can happen between placing an order and receiving the goods. Sometimes the boxes are damaged in transit and our warehouse team pulls them out of stock even though the knives inside are perfectly fine - I will follow up and ask if we have any additional units of the first edition with certificate that we could send to you. Please continue to be in touch with our support team directly as you have been.

I've let our team know they should monitor the number of support requests that we get so we know if just a few got swapped or if it's a larger issue - based on the comments so far, I would say it's probably isolated. I will also pass this information back to the vendor, thanks for letting us know. This would be a very challenging issue to resolve; we don't actually know which member got #0067, and even if we did we could not know if they have the COA for your #0065, nor could we compel them to return it. I can ask about having the vendor make a new COA, but getting this replaced would be a fairly time-consuming endeavor that our support team would have a hard time working on - they are simply not setup to chase down issues like this.Your best course of action is always to file a help ticket via the Transactions tab of your member profile so that our team is aware and can offer you a partial credit if you would prefer that.
