Hey everyone,
It has been an honor and a pleasure working with the one-and-only Bob Terzuola. From the first time we discussed this idea during the USN Gathering, to meeting with WE Knife at SHOT Show, and visiting his new shop to shoot the video, a few things have really stood out to me:
1) Bob really enjoys sharing his passion for the craft, and all of the knowledge he’s gained over the years, with others. He literally wrote the book on tactical folding knives (which, if you’re lucky, you can find in good condition on eBay for $150-$200). I think his passion comes across in the video we filmed, and I am grateful to help share his story with a new audience that may not already know about him.
2) Bob is incredibly humble, given all his experience and accomplishments. He’s a living legend in the knifemaking world, but you’d never know it if you just ran into him on the street or at a knife show. He regularly collaborates with other makers, and though most people think of him as a teacher, he still considers himself a student in many regards. This open mindset, that there is always more to learn, keeps his designs current and with a focus on innovation - this guy is always thinking about what’s next, even though he has already pioneered some of the most important innovations in knife design - laser cutting of titanium blanks, ambidextrous one-hand thumb disc opener, double-detent slipjoints, the locking removable belt clip for sheaths, and many more.
3) Bob is open to learning new things, but uncompromising about quality. He was insistent about some key features of this collaboration - primarily, titanium liners, but also regarding some design refinements of the blade shape and grind. It is this uncompromising attention to detail that has gained him a dedicated following of people who gladly pay $1500 to $4500 for his custom knives (if you are lucky enough to have your name drawn in the lottery at a custom knife show - they are normally sold for 2 to 3 times that amount on the secondary market). Before signing off on the project, Bob looked at a number of other WE Knife models and met with both of our our teams. He personally inspected the prototypes, and made some key revisions which you see reflected on the page.
As for the knife itself, I love the CTF design for a few reasons. It’s smooth as butter to flip open - with the flipper tab, of course, but also with the thumb disc. I find on a lot of knives that the geometry of thumb stud and their location relative to the handle makes for awkward ergonomics; many are hard to open at all, let alone get open fully with a quick flick. It’s also pretty slim and lightweight for a Terzuola knife, which makes for a perfect EDC. Bob’s custom knives are stunning to see and to hold, but at $1500 to $3000 or more, I’d be a bit nervous carrying one around all day - you can be sure the CTF will be getting some regular use as part of my EDC rotation.

HackenslashYep, Bob pioneered that style of lockbar-to-blade engagement and WE Knife does all their blade tangs this way.

JonasHeinemanSay Jonas, what about tools. Are what is needed off the shelf or proprietary, I have read Terzuola knives have their own customized fixings that need special tools? Please advise if tools can be bought for this offering?

Wobbs@AveryC is working on it with Bob right now, I think it should be done this month. We collected questions from members and passed them along to Bob not that long ago. We'll work to get it compiled and sent out soon.

BenjaboolyI'm not sure TBH. Stock response: "Did you check your spam folder?" A lot of people find messages from our support and other teams there. We'll ask @AveryC if there's time to add any more, I'm not sure if it's possible or not.

BenjaboolyHey there - we sent an email on May 24 to collect questions for the Q&A. As Jonas mentioned, be sure to check your spam folder as sometimes our emails go there (and then you can mark as not spam).
Bob has already answered the questions and we'll be sharing the video in the next few weeks. I apologize that you weren't able to ask your questions in time.

AveryCI have it so that your emails for advertising show up in one page and anything that says anything important shows up in my main, and I do check my spam quite often for things like this, because of occurrences like this being so frequent. I guess I'll have to start asking other members when they get to ask their questions to I dont miss out again on something that was a reason for me to get this drop.

BenjaboolyWe sent the Ray Laconico email on June 20th, and Ray has already answered the questions. Can you email me your questions for Ray at avery.corley@massdrop.com? Chances are someone may have asked something similar, or I can see if Ray can write one more answer. Thanks!
