JCrukYeah, but i don't want to pay for an amplifier twice. All I'd want is a standalone DAC, but for some reason those seem more expensive than DAC/Amp Combos.
bYtockI understand that you would rather save the money instead of paying for a dac+amp when all you need is a dac, but I don't understand why that means you can't spend less than $800 on a dac/amp combo that provides what you're asking for. In any case, this THX amp doesn't seem to be a symmetric balanced design anyway, so I'm not sure why a balanced dac is even desirable here.
Jimster480I'm pretty sure the m9 isn't balanced. Also, I understand there are Dac/amps with balanced outputs, but i've had trouble finding just dacs with no amp.
bYtockThe M9 is balanced, I just don't think it has XLR output specifically.
But the DX7 measures so well.... that you might as well get one and use a second Amp too.
That's what I have done.
Or wait for the D50 which is dual ES9038Q2M but I don't think it has balanced output (XLR).
WillHi Will, any additional information you would be willing to share?
Will it have an AES3 input?
What DAC chip will it use?
Can we expect to get it before we receive the THX amp?
posposAES3-input would be very welcome, yes.
And focus on measured performance, to match this "objectivist" amp. No extra bells-and-whistles please. Just raw performance!
