I've heard most of those (except dt1990 pro and k7xx), and you just can't go wrong with the hd 6xx with a great amp :)

srdhussainI have the Aune X7S paired with the Grace SDAC. Is it worth switching from the X7S to the THX AAA?

GreatMagicianIt could be, but I'm not sure the perforamnce of the Grace Dac if it will be able to take advantage of the THX AAA. But considering this is like the best amp in the world at this point in time, it always would make sense to upgrade to it if you have the money :)
srdhussainThis is a great list but there is no review here. I would love to hear anything about how this amp changed your listening results with all of those headphones. I have a shorter list with similarities and I'm looking for a new amp to see how that changes the sound. Thanks.

Dr.KennethNoisewaterThe THX 789 not only has the power but is also so clean. I find connected with balanced cables I can turn the volume way above where I would listen with music and hear no output from the amp.  the 789 sounds impressively clean/clear/quiet/has really nice 3D front to back

Mark_M Sounds just so clear, clean, and well balanced/coherent tonally and the head (delete). Well articulated, but subtle enough to not be drawing un-needed attention to note impact. Midrange is subtly velvety smooth, and on good quality recordings, sounds emerge from the darkest background. Absence of distortion is a wonderful thing. The bass is seriously impressive in punch and weight. This depends on your personal preferences.

srdhussainThanks for the reply. This amp would cost $492 CAD. Still worth it?

srdhussainCan you please fill me in on how the aune X1S compares to the D50? I have the X1S and use it as my DAC right now and am wondering how much of an upgrade the D50 is. What do you hear?

srdhussainHmm okay. I'd be curious to know how this one compares to the other Massdrop amps or DAC/amp combos such as the LCX + SDAC.

Mark_MLCX + SDAC I do not know anything about it and do not know its audio details, you can read the reviews on Massdrop.

srdhussainI really could care less how things measure. How does it sound? The reason i took time to post was because you have both literally sitting right next to each other. Can you please compare them hooked up to the same amp and let me know what you hear?

legion1caponeThe D50 is no different, it is to my ears, very neutral and transparent in the system, I never detected any background noise when using any of the inputs. The D50 is incredibly clean and detailed, it doesn't matter what amp you pair it with, the consistency is there. It does not suffer from any colouring in any way. The D50 in my opinion is a little bit sharper in terms of detail retrieval, they are presented a little bit more upfront. Where the D50 stands out is the way it is neutral and has incredible detail and separation but there is never any "digital" glare that some Sabre implementations suffer from. For the price and the features, the D50 is one of the best value for money DAC's out there. If you want to improve the transparency and detail retrieval in your system the D50 is excellent, it supports plenty of bit rates along with having multiple inputs. The PCM filters are subtle but do make a difference so experiment and find which you prefer. Apart from the slightly wobbly volume knob I cannot fault the D50 in what it does. Overall, I find the X1s has to have a mostly neutral sound signature that leans slightly towards the bright side. The sound from the X1s is very punchy, dynamic and lively. Bass comes through very distinctly, cleanly, and as very hard-hitting on pretty much all of the headphones that I tried, which gives music that quality that makes you want to dance to it. Soundstage on the X1s is a highlight. It’s very wide, and with decent depth. Overall, the soundstage is very 3D in shape. Now you decide what your preferences will be.
