I got my item few weeks ago and works fine. but, I want to ask about using 2 headphone output at sametime. especially, 4p-xlr and 1/4" are what I want to connect at the sametime. is it safe ? I knew there was mention in the discussion about 1/4" & 3.5mm but not about balanced and single-ended.
SJ_LeeAll output jacks are driven at same time. Leaving all your HPs connected might be ok if:
  • Parallel impedance of all HPs is > 16 Ohms, and
  • You won't be overdriving any HPs (e.g. IEMs) while listening to the other ones

AndrewMasonIs it safe to use a mono jack ?
posposA mono plug would likely short one or both amp outputs.

AndrewMasonactually, my test drive of two headphones with SE + 4p-xlr at same time was fine. there is no volume down, it may control power to output well. quite impressive about that. but, there was wierd thing happen when power button on/off . when only 1 headphone with 4p-xlr or se, just soft and smooth on/off. almost quite with really tiny pop sound. But, when both headphones are connected, on/off pop sound being massively loud from both headphone. it just could be hear even don't wear the headphone on. could be hear over 1 feet away from headphone. amp could run both at same time as you explain, but I didn't feel safe when turn on/off. I'd rather practice plug/unplug headphone jacks everytime when amp on/off... or just use one headphone at a time. my test setup was ... -hd800s with SE cable + zmf auteur 4p-xlr connect to thx aaa 789. -thx aaa 789 get signal from dacs through rca and xlr both and select with rca. -thx aaa 789 gain knob keep in 1
SJ_LeeYes that could be problematic. We didn't design with that in mind. In your case I recommend either tolerate the pop, or keep the amp always on, or unplug one of your headphones before turning off.
