Hey guys!
I’m Zambumon, the designer of this set. Welcome to the GMK Jamón drop!
If you have any questions, tag me @Zambumon or reply to this comment to make sure I can answer it fast!
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: How do you pronounce Jamón?
A: [χaˈmon] which is close to “Ha mon” .
Q: Is there any place I can check with a keyboard gallery featuring this keyset?A: Yes, check out: https://zambumon.com/jamon/galleryQ: How do I cover my keyboard?
In all cases, you’ll need to purchase a Core
Core: 60%, 65%, 75%, and TKL. Masterkeys Pro S, Massdrop CTRL, Massdrop ALT, Anne Pro, Tokyo60, M60-A, Nemo, TADA68, Jules, Duck Octagon, E7-V1.
Core + Numpad: full-sized keyboards, 1800, 96-key. Masterkeys Pro L,Uniqey Q100, FC980M, TX-CP, Andromeda, HBCP, Red Scarf III Ver.A 96-Key, ZZ96, Duck Lightsaver.
Core + Forties and Split: small form factor keyboards, and ergo keyboards. Planck, JD40, JD45, Minorca, Sebright, Vortex Core, Percebe, LZ Ergo, TGR Alice.
Core + Spacebars: Uniqey C70, Cherry G80-1800, and Topre keyboards(using the 6.00U center stem spacebars, replacing stock stabs with Novatouch stabs)
Q: How do I order multiple kits?
A: Here is a guide on how to order multiple kits:
1. When you land in the payment area, you'll find this form:
search
2. You'll first need to select Core, and on the child deals, select any of the available ones or just live it blank by selecting the "No thanks" option. Please, check the “How do I cover my keyboard?” question or reply to this comment if you are unsure of which kits you have to order.
search
3. If you want to add another child deal, but not a second Core, select "No Thanks" under the Core kit option. Repeat this process as many times as you need for the rest of the kits.

Q: Why isn’t ISO a part of the Core kit?A: Historically, only a small fraction of people (between 4% and 8%*) are interested in purchasing ISO. This is because people a large part of the userbase is in countries where ANSI is their layout standard (US and Canada, China, Korea, and South East Asia).
By decoupling ISO from the Core kit we can noticeably reduce the number of unused keycaps that are made by GMK, and make Core more affordable.

Q: Do you have samples of GMK Jamón?
Yes, we finished color sampling two weeks ago!
Q: ABS!? No way I’m paying $[x] for ABS keycaps!
A: There are hundreds of examples of high-quality products made in ABS that people love, such as Lego or GMK keycaps.
These keycaps are not only thick, and have doubleshot legends (meaning that the legends will be sharp and will never fade) but have an excellent quality control, legend consistency and are the profile is fantastic for long typing sessions. This is why many choose GMK over any other manufacturer.
Q: Could you add [X] keycap to [Y] kit?
A: Unfortunately that’s not possible. GMK Jamón was open for suggestions from May 31st 2018 to January 6th 2019, during that 7 month period, when kits were locked and quoted by the manufacturer.
For future sets, like Nautilus Nightmares (https://zambumon.com/nautilus-nightmares/), if you wish to share your suggestions, do not forget to vote for your favorite kits (https://www.massdrop.com/vote/GMK-Nautilus-Nightmares) and voice your opinion on any of the discussion channels!

Q: Why is the shipping date June 20, 2019?
A: This is because GMK Jamón is custom made product, and the keycaps have yet to be made.
Once the pre-order period ends, Massdrop submits an order to the factory, which then schedules a production time for the set. After the production and sorting of all the keycaps is done, the keycaps are then sent to Massdrop’s warehouse in the US, and then shipped to each drop participant.
Exchange rates in favour of USD, and the fact that it sold well over 1000 base kits.
Here it's $100 at 500 units. With the numpad, it's comparable with almost all others previous base kits that retail on group buys. Just check for instance GMK Chocolatier, we had a base kit for $145
We're so close to 500!!!
Also these other kits are doing great: Forties and Split, Spacebars and Pata Negra! Let's get them to the next tier!
Why wait till the last minute?
Base at 500 and Numpad at 150 MOQ, this set becomes very economical. C'mon folks, we are almost there, dont wait up till last min for reaching MOQs. If you place the order now, your CC/Paypal will not be charged till drop ends anyway, and MOQ #s will be achieved much earlier than very last min.
Quick question! I have pre-ordered this set with the ISO-kit. But what happens if the ISO-kit does not meet IMOQ? Do I have a option to return/or cancel my order?
It's my understanding that if any kit in your purchase is not made, Massdrop gives you the option to revise or cancel your purchase AFTER the drop ends.
Massdrop has said as much in other drops' discussions. For example:
• GMK Carbon: "...we'll reach out to those affected by any potential MOQ limits and you will have a chance to change your order."
• SA Danger Zone: "You will have the option to edit or cancel your order should it contain any kits that do not get produced."
• SA Green Screen: "...you'll get a chance to adjust your kits if something in your order will not be made."
@Zambumon Thank you for labeling all the convex keycaps in every Jamón kit with a C. Very simple, zero confusion. I hope Massdrop does this for all future keycap drops! @YanboWu@Elbert
Even been an spanish speaker I find a dedicated position for ñ in a keyboard a waste of space. This set featuring a full multiple row set of Ñ just does not make sense.
This set is trending well ! Thanks for the graphs !
@Zambumon did a solid on the kits for this and the pricing. I'm guessing a lot of sets are going to go this route from now on.
It might be the model for future GMK sets, but I hope other profiles continue to cover more options. ErgoDox, Colevrak, etc. I see no harm in lower MOQs with higher prices, as long as those MOQs are enforced.
I want this so bad. The reds are so mouthwateringly rich...
Please don't be offended if I manage to resist for the sake of my wallet... know that it isn't easy. ;)
well, at least for basic iso support with gmk sets it didn't have to look like anything because base kits were always designed in a way that they supported it. as much as i can understand @Zambumon's approach to save costs, i feel sad to see that some people might never get to enjoy this set because they depend on iso layout.
i'm not even talking about NorDE layout or some specific language, beeing german myself i have learned to not give a fuck about DE layouts after buying my first set, but i did enjoy GMK base kits for the reason that they at least had basic iso support.
i've never heard people say "oh no, there's iso support in the base kit, i won't join!" but the opposite is quite real, even if they are low on numbers.
at the end of the day, i do respect Zambs decisions and will enjoy Jamón, even if it means i'll have to use some red- or black-ish iso enter which will not fit 100% but do the job for me.
Yeah, I feel exactly the same way: Stoped buying the International kits (which ironically in the might have lead to the exclusion of general iso.. :) and was always happy with the default uk iso, since it was always there. And the sad part is, that this now might become a trend, as for example GMK Striker also is looking like it‘s not going to have any iso support at all (see IC on geekhack. granted, it‘s also from zambumon, so we will have to see if this trend is going to grow). And same as you, I also can understand the decision: if there is no demand, there‘s no demand. I just thinks it‘s sad (and tbh, it‘s not even like i couldn‘t live with ansi, i just like the iso enter and having options).
I have question please; Is it safe to use this set (or any GMK keycaps set) with Kaihl Navy Box switches? I bought the switches before the retooling was made.
thank a lot for answering. I won't risk using GMK keycaps with my Box Navy then (that including the retooled that are available). That being said, I'm using the non retooled of Box Navy with Ducky PBT Seamless Backlit Keycap Set and for a year now and there is no cracking. I'll use a GMK Set when there's a better switched with same tactility.
EDIT: I just tried Ducky PBT Seamless Backlit Keycap Set on my Varmilo VB87M Bluetooth Keyboard and oh yeah, the widening is pretty severe :|
No, you’ll need a 1.25 shift unless you are okay with mismatching legends or program it differently, you’d also need a 1u backspace key. So you’ll probably want the 40s kit as well.
The low amount of sales of the ISO kit worries me. As a pedantic, chauvinistic ISO user, getting this kit (with three eñe survival kits for my full-size keyboard, so I cañ be as aññoyiñg as I cañ be) and then being forced to go ANSI would be sad. I could deal with using a mislabeled left Shift key (any unused R4 1.25U from the core kit would do), but the lack of a 1.5U R2 Ñ key would kill the eñtire poiñt of going full eñe.
I have to wonder how many other potential customers are put off by this problem and are refraining, like me, from buying in.
i'm an iso user myself but what do you mean by 1.5U R2? which one would that be? i'm only missing the iso enter, bc the lshift is easily replaced by novelty.
Sorry, I wasn't clear enough. For the ISO left Shift key, in R4, my comment referred to possible replacements *from the core kit only* (I'm aware that the "forties & split" kit has an ISO left Shift key).
In R2, I meant the 1.5U key that (on US-English keyboards) contains the \ and | characters, for which there would not be a 1.5U (alpha-colored) key, with the Ñ legend.
I am actually surprised at the amount (% over base) of number pads purchased, i guess it is justified after all to have them separate. Though as a collector item, i would have thought you would want the whole set for resale value.
