The choice of switch is disappointing. If the goal is to make it look like a typewriter, then why not include Cherry MX Green, or better yet, make them buckling springs.

mosquitoguyIt's hot-swapable. You can put your own greens in.

mosquitoguyBox whites are available in the drop.
mosquitoguyI agree that a clicky switch really belongs on this keyboard due to its theme. That's why there are two clicky switch options in this drop. However, there is a practical limit to the number of purchasing options that can be encoded in a drop like this, so we couldn't add more switches without things becoming unwieldy on the backend. However, since this is a hotswap board, you should be able to deploy your favorite clicky switch with relatively little effort!

WherestheSNESNo thanks.. if I wanted an assemble-yourself keyboard I'd get one from IKEA. :) Also, anything that you can customize completely has no inherent resale value because you really don't know what you're getting. In other words, there's a reason why I'd pay extra for a Filco instead of an Aukey even when they contain the same switch inside.
mosquitoguyI hear where you're coming from. I don't like DIY keyboards either; in fact the most I'm usually willing to do is swap keycaps. However, there is a sizable DIY segment of the mech keyboard community, and many of MassDrop's offerings are geared for them. The Rocketeer represents something of a middle ground, in my view, since it requires some assembly, but doesn't require soldering or anything so involved. The reward, for those who find value in it, is the flexibility and freedom to try different switches with relatively minimal effort.

mosquitoguyYou must be new to the whole mechanical keyboard thing. The no resale value thing couldn't be further from the truth in this hobby. Custom boards fetch the highest prices. Look up all the Duck boards, OTD boards, Fjells etc.
But not wanting to assemble your own is a valid reason if you're not into it.
