got a demo pair for 80. i love them!!
Not much of a discount.. Price here is almost or even more ifI buy it here in Sydney. I would have love to get this. :(
I think these guys are known for the MW60. Bring those and I'm in. I'd like to try wireless.

I own the MW60's and use it during my commute. They clamp on pretty well so it does a good job keeping the train noise out. It charges very fast and i use them in wired mode (paired with the Oppo HA-2) when i don't absolutely need BT. Doing that makes the battery last for about a week.

They are known for the MH40, their first model introduced two years ago in Apple retail stores among others. The MW60 was introduced at the end of last year.
I had these for a spell and ultimately upgraded to the Oppo PM-3s and gave the MH40s to my sister and her fiancee. While I prefer my PM-3s all around there are times that I really miss the look of the MH40. I have a shaved head and small ears, and yet these just didn't seal quite right on my noggin. Frankly, I felt these sounded about a hundred dollars less than they were priced. Still, the build quality and design is fantastic. They are very fun headphones.
The $100 discount on Master & Dynamic's own website is still in play as of today (May 8th, 2016). In addition, M&D offers free shipping (and even same day shipping, via courier, for those of us in certain NYC zip codes). This drop isn't quite worth the discount and wait time at the moment.

The free shipping is also UPS 2nd day air
If you have Android devices stay far away !! This company is purposely blocking Android devices !! You can not use the controls and mic functions on this device.

Yeah sorry I wasn't replying to your comment but about the general subject of not supporting Android, you just happened to be the last down the list, my bad.

No problem - I understand Android to be only a partial spec, and manufacturers may have different or unexpected hardware that makes universal compatibility a problem. Apple has had plenty of issues themselves, so I would expect Android mfrs. to have a lot more. It might not be directly relevant here, but issues come up all the time.
If the Boom Mic was included in the price I would buy these, to bad they want $100 for it and also what is up with you picking an option and having to add at least $10 to it, no base model so basically if you did get them at the lowest price you still would have to pay $10 more. Not impressed, not impressed at all.
Yeah I hate to crap on MD because they provide excellent options/service but ultimately had to side with my fellow consumers. $50-$70 is a good amount cheaper...as long as everyone promises to spend the $ they saved on MD! Haha. Now maybe I will still be in good graces.
Heads up....these are 299 ($100 off over $349) right now directly from master and dynamic 2 year anniversary sale. TWOYEARS100

Code didn't work for me. Is it expired already?
primitivetype
Just tried it and it does look like it's over now. Give them a call and see if they will still give you the discount. I would do it today cuz it must've just expired yesterday or today and if you call and ask they may still honor it. Good luck
I used to work for a place that sold these. It's more for looks than anything else. If you're an audiophile your money is better spent on the mahogany THX-00's when it drops again. If you like fashion buy it, if you like great sound avoid it.

It's unlikely that the Purple Hearts will return anytime soon. MD extended the Purple Hearts by two weeks and the stock of 2K units did not sell out. In the end only 1,834 units were sold but some got cancelled because of PayPal issues etc... and only 1,831 units show up as sold currently. The Purple Heart apparently has smoother treble than the Mahogany more than likely due to the density of the wood being used. The TH-X00 Mahogany got a lot of positive reviews from the audiophile community, even Z on Youtube said they are a great.
Mahogany has proven itself as a good type of wood to use for musical instruments as you'll find them often on guitar tops, backs, sides, and neck because of it's sonic signature being good for bass, sub bass, and mid range. Aside from headphones I own a few guitars too, you should hear the difference between sitka spruce top guitars and full mahogany guitars like the Martin D-15M. You pretty much almost can't find a negative review for the D-15M. Mahogany is just really great for getting that punchy warm sound everyone talks about.

Right on. Thanks for the reply and info. The reason I asked is part of me wants to pick up the PH too but I just haven't been able to convince myself it would be worth adding both to my collection. I got the mahogany ones and really like them.
the hifiman he-350's sound better than these
I have the TH-X00. NAD HP50 VISO. Senn HD-600. I listened to these at the airport recently while killing time. They just aren't in the same league as any listed that I own. Very closed in bassy warm sound. Not a lot of detail. But they look great and they are super comfy. Way overpriced, why go to Masssloowdrop to save $20?
I believe it's cheaper to go buy them from the Canadian apple store at full price with tax than to buy them here with shipping and conversion rate... Can anyone compare these to the sennheiser momentum 2.0?
danm9
Check out the Wirecutter. They have. :)
Tried a pair of these. Great build but the sound is a little closed in, not very transparent and overall a disappointment. The Koss PortaPros sound more open and dynamic and layered.
jamato8
Same deal with the on-ear MH30. Way overpriced, heavy, muddy to muffled, heavy clamp.
not that much of a discount that I would expect for Massdrop
Hmmm... these or the Fostex TH-X00?
I'm waiting for the TH-X00 mahoganies to drop again, but these sure look nice!
Can anyone compare the two?

TH-XOO is also aesthetically pleasing
K.T.N
mh is more fun. bass heavy. heavy clamping. th x00 is more detailed and clean.
why do these headphones have wires stick out above the ear cups?

Haha so it does... I stand corrected, this is being marketed now as a feature. So now if some youtube reviewer could please daisy chain about 10 of these together I would like to know how it sounds for the poor fool at the end of the chain. I would still not use this method though convenient, as I can't see having $400 cans and getting sloppy seconds input signal. Thanks for increasing my knowledge on this matter.

With 10 of them, you'd be down to 3.2 ohms impedance and a lot of current, you could drive them with a speaker amp.
ill buy it when its 200 lol
heddeh
You should look into the NAD Viso HP50. They can be had for ~200 - 250, and are a remarkable sounding headphone (better imho than the MH40). They aren't as pretty though.

already got the fostex th00. jusy wanted the mh40 at halfprice cuz it looks dope and its a pair of fun headphones :p
I would buy them if they were the usually 30-50% off, but not at 10%
Bought this for retail (well... my wife bought for me as a gift) and I love them. Great clarity, sound space and very very comfortable. $400 is a bit steep. $350 may be a bit steep too, but they are really wonderful headphones. As everyone mentioned, the build quality is fantastic.
It's not on the product info page, but is it possible to request for the white color option? Thanks.
I love these. Great materials and build quality, pretty nice (if bass heavy) sound!
I bought a pair of MH40's a year ago, they are very punchy and dynamic and incredibly well built. my iPhone drives them to very loud levels. I had a small issue with the mic cable and the company not only sent me a brand new cable but also a very cool headphone stand for "my troubles", really love this customer attention, I can't wait to get one of their in ears.
I'm wearing these headphones right now and it's definitely a great headphone. Not an incredible value at full retail but if you're looking for a fun sound this is good. When I walk around with it sometimes the rotating cuffs hit the adjustment mechanism and make a clicking noise which is pretty annoying. I probably wouldn't recommend this for a walking commute in NYC.
What!? No dark blue option?!
Pgomez
I know it sucks :(
Gorgeous!
