I noticed that "149 users have requested this product”. Is that the number of people who originally signed up? Or is it the number of people who signed up after the drop?
Agent_J
it's the number of users that requested a new drop after the last one.
Does this drop only pertain to the PC version of the Quiet Pro or does it also include the Mac version?
imho, the mini quiet pro is a much better model.
How much better or worse are these than Das?
Just received mine today and I have to say as my 7th keyboard this might be the happiest I have been with a purchase.
I bought this keyboard to use at work and I think it is absolutely perfect. Very high quality classy understated look, not really any noisier than a rubber dome, and most importantly actually typing on it is fantastic! I prefer typing on this over Blue and Black for sure and probably over Red as well, and red is pretty noisey as they bottom out hard and easy.
Would not be my first choice for gaming, but certainly better than Blues and not bad overall. But that is not what I bought it for anyway.
Very high quality, very happy! I may now have to buy a tenkeyless for home!

Is this better than Das?
Hey everyone,
Happy to report that all the orders from the drop have been shipped out 1 day ahead of schedule!
Thanks again for the support guys, and please feel free to share your experience of the Matias Quiet Pro Keyboard with the rest of the group afterwards.
If there’s anything else we can do to make your Massdrop experience better, just email us at support@massdrop.com :)
Hey everyone, We have just been informed that our order of Matias Quiet Pro Keyboard has been shipped out by Matias. The shipment is estimated to arrive our warehouse on later this week. We have already alert our warehouse staff about this shipment, so we should be able to process the bulk shipment upon arrival, and repackage them into individual orders before shipping them out to everyone very quickly. I'll update again once we receive the keyboards in our warehouse. Cheers!
Hey everyone, We just got an update from Matias that our order is scheduled to be shipped to us on Monday. We’ll update again once the shipment is on its way. Cheers!
Can this handle my over 9000 WPM under 130 DB?
I would totally be in if it had backlighting. On their website it says it has "backlight support" does that mean there is a separate product that can offer backlighting for this?

That http://matias.ca/switches/quiet page is specifically about the switches, which they also offer in wholesale quantities for anyone making their own design. The switches are backlight friendly because they're transparent, but I don't believe this specific Quiet Pro has light sources or transparent keycaps for the whole keyboard. I don't see any backlit keyboard in their current lineup at all.

Oh okay. Thanks for clearing that up.
I have the "Laptop Quiet Pro" version of this, and I love the feel of the keyboard. It beats every Cherry keyboard I have in smoothness and overall balance of tactility and noise. Cherry switches feel "scratchy", "sandy", or "dry" in comparison (I haven't applied additional lube to either switch).
I believe these are Alps switches, and I type on this every chance I get. In terms of weight of the switch (how much force it takes to depress the keys) the one I have (which I believe is comparable to this) is roughly equal to Cherry MX Clear, not MX Brown.
Note that the version I have is TKL, has Mac-specific keys, and it's bluetooth, but my expectation is that the overall smoothness in feel and sound level are comparable between the two. If I didn't have one, I'd snatch this up in an instant! (especially considering that I paid over $170 for mine)

Would you say that this is good for all day typing at a workplace. I am looking for both comfort and quietness. I have a board with browns at home, but that might even be too loud for my workplace environment. Thanks!

There's an audio comparison with MX brown and blue samples on the Matias site: http://www.matias.ca/quietpro/pc/
The Quiet Pro certainly seems quieter than the others, but it still uses mechanical switches, so I wouldn't expect them to be anywhere near silent. And the typist in the sound files seems to be bottoming out on every one of the keyboards (the click of the switch is followed by a thud or clack), so they all sound louder than they would from someone with a lighter touch that releases earlier.
That's one of the benefits of tactile switches, knowing when the switch activates by feel before needing to bottom out to be sure. But if the actuation force is as high as helrich mentioned, it may take more finesse to find the sweet spot.
I've used buckling spring and Alps switches years ago, and a MX blue now. I've been happy enough with the blues, not as tactile but a lot quieter. I'm really looking forward to this one, if the Matias really can deliver an Alps feel that's even quieter than Cherry switches.
Would Matias give the option of getting Apple keys for this? (IIRC they make a bunch of aftermarket Apple keyboards)
Good news everyone!
We saw this buy was about to finish so we contacted Matias to give them a heads up on the numbers. After talking with us, Matias decided to make a couple changes to the buy. First and foremost is the price change. The base level for this drop is now 119.99 and the maximum price drop level of 109.99 is now available at 20 units.
Additionally, to give more people a chance to join and lower the price for the group, Matias has extended the buy until next Friday.
At this point, the group only needs a few more purchases to reach $109.99 so get on the sharing : )
Happy Holidays!
now I regret buying that omni nail for 120$ ._. i hope this item comes back after holidays
ballzley
that's what credit card are for :D
Switch specs are here: http://matias.ca/switches/quiet
Any specifications about the switches?
For people considering this, it is much quieter than cherry browns, perhaps about halfway between them and a regular rubber dome. One caveat, the actuation force is massive. Your fingers need biceps. My pinkies got pretty sore after using it at work.
