Unless I'm missing something, this thing will not drive your speakers! you need a dedicated power amp for that, it's a headphone amp and/or preamp...please make the correction it's misleading.
Pierre111There is nothing to correct. The item is a Matrix Mini I DAC/Amp and no where in the entire description does it state that it is an amplifier without specifying that it is a headphone amp.
SnakeATWARExcept for this line, where it clearly does state that this device can be used to power 'speakers' as well as 'headphones':
"As for the amplification side of the equation, two operational amps (OP275 and OPA2134) drive your speakers and a dedicated headphone amp drives headphones with up to 300 Ohms of impedance. "
That really ought to be corrected, massdrop. It's nonsensically confusing since there's no speaker output terminals on the device, anywhere.
upinthecloudsActive* Monitors/Powered* Speakers. The Mini-i acts as a Pre-Amp too; not just a DAC and HP Amp. I had the Mini-i Pro and used it with my KRK Rokits without issue. I suppose they could add powered or active before speakers.
upinthecloudsUnfortunately, Massdrop is either happy to be deceptive/confusing, or they simply don't care. Quite a few of their descriptions are just wrong, and always on the side of inflating the abilities of the product. They either need to get their ethics in line, or get someone who knows how to write English correctly.
