Maurice Lacroix Masterpiece Lune Retrograde Watch

Similar to a venn diagram, the dial of the Masterpiece Lune Retrograde from Maurice Lacroix is characterized by three circular complications with a focal point in the center. At 10 o’clock is the date display, which is displayed in a wide retrograde-style arch. On the opposite side is the power reserve at 2, the markers of which becomes smaller as the power level decreases, like descending a spiral staircase. Perhaps the star of the show is the day display and moonphase indicator at 6. Encircled within the days of the week is a black rotating disk that offers a peek at the moon when the time is right. All of these elements combine to at once create a sense of balance and movement.

Based on Maurice Lacroix’s ML192 59-jewel automatic movement, this striking timepiece offers a whopping 52 hours of power. The movement is protected inside a stainless steel case and sapphire crystal—not to mention it’s water resistant to 50 meters. Flip the case over and you can see the inner workings. The case and dial seamlessly blend satin and brushed finishes without drawing too much attention.
