When fluffing egg whites, the bowl you use makes a huge difference. A common consensus among both home cooks and professional chefs: Copper works best Read More
The item above is described as Mauviel 10.2-Inch Copper Beating Bowl with Ring
The answer I got back from Massdrop Customer Service is that I should file a warranty claim against Mauviel. That doesn't sound right either.
Can the Massdrop buyer responsible for this drop please comment to clarify this issue?
I don't think it's right that the item text description "With Ring" and the picture with the ring is shown and yet we did not receive what we ordered.
How else did the Buyer get the ring stand in the picture and in the item description if he or she did not receive the bowl with the ring stand when Massdrop sold the drop?
JediWhere I think the error is arising is from how the drop was described. The ring they are mentioning I believe is the brass ring that is attached to the bowl and that is used to support holding and hanging the bowl. However, the discrepancy arises from the drop photo showing the bowl with the stand and the natural assumption being the drop includes the stand. As for filing a warranty claim with Mauviel, I think that isn't necessary unless your bowl does not have the brass side ring. Mauviel traditionally sells the bowls and the bowl stand separately.
This is a link the stand which Mauviel does not refer to as a ring:

I'll be honest I was hoping the drop included the stand based on the picture but when I commited I figured it did not include it and if I did get all the better for me.
If someone from Massdrop involved with this drop could chime to offer some clarity, that would be most welcomed.
JaggiI would say since the "Pre Drop" price is $140 and Williams-Sonoma is selling each for 80 and 60 respectively... I'd say it's for both... Or what is pictured. If it didn't come with a stand in sure PayPal could possibly dispute it if it didn't come as "advertised".
HopefulHelper96I wouldn't count on that. $140 is supposed to be the RRP according to Massdrop. Both Williams-Sonoma and the Mauviel USA web site list the normal price for this bowl at $100 and the stand at $75.
In fact the sale price at WS seems to have ended now and the price is back to $100 for the bowl and $75 for the stand.
I don't know where the $140 RRP came from, but I doubt Massdrop was basing it on a sale price at Williams-Sonoma.
If you look at Mauviel USA:

There's a smaller 8 inch bowl which costs $105 - more than the price of the 10.2 inch bowl, and then an even larger 11.8 inch bowl which sells for $190. I'd guess that the 10.2 inch bowl was originally selling for $140, between the prices of the other 2 bowls as you'd expect, but has since been reduced to $100 for some reason.
This is a great price. I know interest checks get asked in other drops so I'm curious if we can also get a drop soon for the Mauviel double boiler for heating chocolate.
