This thing is fantastic

I love everything about this pad. Putting it together was a blast if you're into that sort of thing. Do note there is some soldering required but it's easy. It has 5 macro layers but I only use 2 - one for shooter/rpg games and one for media playback - and you can use it shortways or longways . Also the LEDs Look great.

Hardware: decent. I bought the pre-soldered version back then due to lack of soldering equipment on my side. the soldering on the board was A+, had a lot of trouble to remove the solder to change switches later because it was just really well done. Only Downside is the switches on the sides of the legs of the plate because soldering in this space is easy but removing solder there is pretty difficult due to little space. the thing itself is sturdy, but light (same goes for the PCB) and the fear of the PCB to get dirty due to it beeing open on the side has proven to be false. However, lots of static dust on the plate makes it look a bit messy at times. Keycaps feel very smooth and light, so I guess those are ABS. the silencer rings that came with it all broke after around 1 month of use, very brittle from the getgo. I dont know if you can choose those at checkout, but if you can leave them out and get better ones. the fact that it has 2 USB sockets is very nice and has come in handy a lot since I prefer a 5x4(rows/cols) layout over a 4x5 layout. Issue with this though is that if you do 5x4 the LEDs wont align with the caps legends anymore. A minimal issue, even less so if you have the LED turned off, but a issue nevertheless and it has bugged me for some time, so be prepared to use different keycaps if it bugs you like it bugs me. furthermore, after heavily using it since March/April I have to say that the usb socket has become a bit wobbly. I am treating this thing well but when I try to move it around the keyboard(left side to right side) it will randomly disconnect shortly because the micro USB wobbles its way out of the proMicro. this Issue, however, also only exists in the 5x4 mode as this proMicro isnt supported by the case. If you will use it heavily, I advise finding a solution to stabilise the 5x4 side or just use the 4x5 side instead. Software: amazing. the MaxKeyboard software works really well and gives you a ton of possibilities. Programming macros is easy and straightforward and the interaction with applications works really well. I synced my 2nd layer to my drawing programm, which causes the 2nd layer to activate whenever I enter the drawing program, be it starting or tabbing in(not everyones piece of cake but I find it super handy). The software also allows you to launch programms by the press of a button, which has become my layer 1 by now. I can just faceroll across that thing and have got all my programms open. Additonally, the layers are getting saved onto the board, so you can plug it in anywhere and dont even need the software to make it work. Issues with the software are small but, again, there. Biggest Issue I had is that it wont recognize non ANSI keys (e.g. the ISO DE key for < > and | between the Y key and left shift) and there are a few things you can do that will send it into an infinite loop, which needs you to force close it and restart(only happened once though). All in all I can very much reccommend that board. its technical flaws can be fixed with slight DIY adaptions (people with 3D printers avaiable to them have an advantage there) and the software is just great for a macro board and covers anything you can think of. tl;dr: hardware quality is good, could be better in some spots ; software quality is awesome, havent had any greater issues

4.5/5: The max falcon-20 is awesome, and i'd recommend it to anyone using a TKL or 60% board. Even if you don't need the numpad, it's nice to have the option. You can always find a few nice macros for gaming or productivity to make the price point worth it. My half star complaint is due to the software being less than ideal, and the case being kind of weird. If you have a desk mat, you probably don't need to add rubber feet to the case.

The macropad is thoroughly useful and was easy to finish assembling. The app is a bit tedious to configure, but where the FALCON-20 really fell short was its inability to be directly programmable. I would like to store configurations and manually edit them without being forced to go through the Falcon app, but this is currently unsupported on the macropad. This lack of flexibility is what knocked out the last star on my review.

I've had this sitting in storage since I bought it and I planned on using it after completing my setup... It seems both usb micro ports are busted. I have to hold the cable in a certain position for the pc to recognize the usb device.. Is it possible to fix both ports?

On the programming side, I needed more code than I could provide with their software, so I mapped the 20 keys to the normal function keys F1-F20. I then had a coder write me a little resident app that intercepts Function keys (even from the normal keyboard) and interprets them as I needed. It also puts a row of clickable function keys F1-F12 on the screen, so I can use them if needed.

To protect the bottom of my keypad, I bought a 10x15cm (4x6 inch) wooden picture frame for 3€. I threw away the backing, kept the glass, and drilled a hole for the cable. The keypad fits perfectly (reversing the frame), with just enough extra room for the fat part of the cable. An easy solution, and it looks great.
