I say this all the time, but I'll say it again... WHY TITANIUM?! It serves no purpose in a toy and only drives up the price for absolutely no reason. Just make the damn thing from aluminum...

Rexar5Aluminum is very soft, which means it is very easy to damage if you were to drop your spinner on cement or something. I have ruined many fidget spinners doing that (that's why I only ever bought 1 plastic spinner). Titanium and stainless are much harder than aluminum. Also, aluminum has a typical density of ~2750 kg/m^3 Stainless steel is ~7750 kg/m^3 Titanium is ~4500 kg/m^3 That means that titanium is going to be about twice as heavy as an aluminum spinner, but about half as heavy as a stainless steel spinner.

G_zimmerThen why not steel? Seems better in every way. If it's too heavy, change the design a little or make lightening cuts. It's easier to machine than titanium too.

Rexar5It can actually be harder (more expensive) to machine a complicated steel piece than a simple titanium piece, depending on the lightening cuts and the design and such (machine time usually costs more than the materials). I guess I'm not sure why steel is better or worse than other metals. I would argue that Titanium is better for every day carry applications, because the increased hardness and lowered weight mean it will take significantly less damage from pocket wear, as well as not pulling your pants down with how heavy it is.

Rexar5Titanium is used because it's an exotic metal. It's as simple as "Cool Factor" Same as things being made out of carbon fiber. Do they need to be made of CF? In many cases NO, but sure looks cool and the price can be justified.
