EretiusLike all things, what is a fad for the masses, is a hobby for some. Frankly, I’m glad the hype has died down (cheap plastics & bearings, school bannings, misunderstood as a child’s toy, etc…). As with high-quality spinning metal tops, there is a place for things that bring enjoyment and satisfaction to some adults.
What's the Point? What's the point of television? What's the point of mobile games? What's the point of surfing the internet? What's the point of popping bubble wrap? What's the point of having fish as pets? What's the point of model railroading? What's the point of spinning tops? Someone will always ask "What's the point?" And others will simply have an appreciation for that thing. Not everything has to have an explanation for it to bring pleasure or satisfaction to others. Nor does it need to be understood by everyone to have value to some. Sometimes it just is and exists above the criticism of those who can't appreciate it.

EretiusFidget spinners have existed longer than the fad and were originally intended to help autistic and ADHD people (such as myself) as opposed to merely being a toy.

glennacI understand your answer, but i didn't understand the phenomenon that spinners had. So i am not mad that i didn't understood it why it was so popular.
Has this item any collectible value? - Only for a person who collects spinners. Is this item for me? No, i don't collect anything right now but, let's see what future brings if i start to collect something.

EretiusI would say kids use them for their intended purpose more than adults, honestly. I have a cheap plastic one but I don't like it as much as some of my other things I keep for the same purpose. I prefer the tangle toy:

Mine is silver so it looks a little more like a desk toy than a kids' toy on my desk...

EretiusCheap plastic spinners notwithstanding, there definitely are high-end collectable Hand Spinners made of various metals and exotic materials. And some exist that are way outside the budget of a child. Many in the EDC community enjoy collecting these unique pieces that are often not widely available.

rneildThis is a clone of another spinner. I would not consider it high end.
