Congratulations on a beautiful looking watch - love the white dial version! If ordering from Australia, is this shipped directly from Melbourne (to Sydney) or via Massdrop still?
HensaDirectly from Australia, cheers.
Hi everyone, this is Sujain here, owner of Melbourne Watch Company. We're pleased to be back for our 3rd drop - please let me know if you have any questions regarding the Sorrento model. Oh and I thought I should mention that the Sorrento has the same unique ceramic dial construction that we use on our Portsea collection. Cheers!

another high priced watch with a miyota movement...still the movement is a good one (not the lesser expensive 8215 with the seconds hand flutter) and a handsome piece. what i especially LOVE are the absolutely unique pin tabs on the back of the bracelet endpiece. getting these bracelets off is a real hassle and without pro tools and a lot of patience you usually end up scratching your watch lugs. with these pins you can get the bracelet off super easy (i'm assuming) and swap into nato straps or leather bands, and then put the bracelet back again when you want. that makes this a much more usable watch with easily switchable strap options! hope to see other watchmakers doing this.

johnnyjohnnyI agree with everything you said except the high price. The features you get are well worth the amount it's being sold at.

ezcon1972i guess that's a debatable point. it is under some other deep dive watches which use the movement, but i've become a fan of the swiss/german made steinhart watches which, with the euro at a low right now, will get you a premium steinhart diver starting around $400 with a swiss movement...i have the vintage military one and it really is amazing. but other than that, you may be right as most other companies with custom diver cases and the miyota 9000 series movement are higher priced.

Hi all, please welcome Melbourne Watch Co. back with the Sorrento diver. Whereas the previous offerings we had brought were mostly dressy with a touch of sport, this watch is for sure a tool watch and can stand up to its specifications.
Regardless of specifications, how the watch fits is always an important consideration. The case certainly lives up to its 200M water resistance; it feels solid and sturdy on the wrist. Though the case diameter and lug-to-lug would fit most wrist sizes, the thick bezel does add some significant heft, which may slightly hinder someone wishing to slip it under a shirt cuff. Though tall, the piece sits comfortably on the wrist due to the curved lugs and straight up-and-down sides. The piece is certainly a treat to look at on the wrist. The crown guards are integrated smoothly into the case design, and the combination of brushed and polished finishes plays well off each other. The photos don’t quite do justice to the textures present on the dial and bezel. The dial makes use of the multi-layered ceramic technique first implemented in MWC’s Portsea collection and plays beautifully off the light. Depending on the angle, the grooves in the dial go from bright and pronounced to blending seamlessly into the dial itself. Another feature that cannot be seen from the photos at all is the guilloche on the bezel itself. The unidirectional bezel is made of a double layer of aluminum laid over enamel, and has a subtle wave pattern carved into it. This can perhaps best be shown by one of MWC’s own photos:

The bezel itself has little play and clicks smoothly. One thing that I would note is that the lack of graduation and the similarity in size of pips made it a bit difficult to tell what was the starting pip at a glance, but I’m sure that would come with getting used to the watch. Lume is generous and the rectangle on the seconds hand makes is easy to locate at a glance. All in all, a handsome take on the classic diver’s watch; the Sorrento is able to incorporate many classic diver watch components and present them in a way that is uniquely MWC.

I think there are divers that can work somewhat "dressy" (or, less sporty, to be precise), but 42x50x14 with 22mm lug width kind of disqualifies this watch for that category, IMO. It looks to be a big, heavy watch that won't fit well underneath a shirt cuff.
