In the world of 3D printing, you still get what you paid for.
IMHO, either wait a bit longer or get a better one.

I know someone with this printer and from what I've seen I'm not impressed. Even for $300, I would recommend you start looking at a Printrbot or other low-cost kits that have community support and can later be upgraded and are not locked into proprietary software.

I participated in the Kickstarter campaign, so I have a lot of experience with this item. Unlike a lot of Kickstarter companies, I believe the company is doing its best to offer support and software upgrades to their users.
This is a great "first" 3D printer for the uninitiated, but as previously commented, the build area is quite small and the software is very limited unless you are a G code guru.
The print quality is pretty good overall.

If you have OS X, this software called MicroPrint combined with creating gcode files through Cura works wonders. http://tomasf.se/projects/microprint/
In Windows, you can load the gcode file through the M3D spooler by pressing the "Add Print Job" button.

Please dear god save your money for a better 3D printer. As a kick starter not only is their customer support horrible but the 3D printer itself isn't worth it. Took a year and a half to be sent to me. The printer fails a lot when actually printing filament. It isn't too much more for a better 3D printer.

Save your money for a better printer. Awful software, zero support, hardware is ok at best. Skip this one.

freakshowexcesAs a Kickstarter backer for this printer I completely agree. The software is pretty bad. The support is mostly done by the community members, you rarely get anyone giving an official answer to an issue or question. If you are even remotely interested in 3d printing save your money and get a better one, you will be much much happier.

SphexAs a kickstarter backer, I agree as well. Before their short 6 month "warranty" was up they replaced my poorly functioning orange with an even worse functioning orange and I used up an entire roll of PLA just on calibration after trying different things they suggested. They tell you not to use the internal holder for the filament since the motors aren't strong enough to pull it out and even if you print the holder they came up with it won't pull the last 20 or so feet of filament. It is possible that since mine was an orange and no one wanted oranges that I got two of the early ones. I wish I'd hit the "please hold off" button and then asked for one of the clear ones since then I would have known that they had got it about as good as they could get it.
