Title says it all. Nice quality build and very sharp, beware! Likely to never drop again, but at the time it was a nice deal.
The only con: kinda hard to clean when you grate cheese; it gets into corners and the slide cap traps anything you grate into the slot.
I use it daily for now 2 years. I don't push on it hard, and mostly use the bigger grate and the fine one.
Closed design makes it difficult to know volume of material grated. Some of the finer grating are not set well making grating difficult. A big disappointment compared to their old style grater
Worst grater ever used. The price does not remotely reflect the quality of this product.
The walls are so thin the grater flexes with the slightest pressure and no longer grates.
I don't usually write reviews for products I purchase on Massdrop but this was such a colossal piece of literal garbage, I couldn't help but to write this.
I love Microplane's products. I have a flat-plane grater and a zester that have been in my kitchen arsenal for nearly a decade. Color me excited when I saw this on Massdrop and couldn't wait to grab it.
Opening the box with this products inside was the single most disappointing thing I've done in a long time (a little hyperbole for you, there). The blades are made out of miserable metal that literally bends when you start grating. The body is cheap plastic that just plain doesn't do the job. I nearly grated my thumb off when I used it for the first time as nothing is where you expect it to be.
Moreover, the machining is poor. The plastic isn't lined up properly and is barely fused together, the "collection tray" was so poorly fit, I had to struggle to get it off the first time, and the metal graters aren't properly seated in the frame.
I can't recommend enough that folks not buy this grater; I have no idea how it has eight positive reviews here. Please make sure you read the "Discussions" section above and disregard the Massdrop Reviews as there is no way anyone received this and thought, "This was a great way to spend $28." I ended up going to Amazon and buying a different all-metal grater for $26 and am significantly happier with the purchase (I won't say which here so I'm not accused of trying to sell another product).
Again, please, do not buy this product. Read the "Discussions" section to get a bigger cross section of people's feelings toward its quality.
As with all Microplane stuff, this is super shard, super handy and really good. Only drawback is that it's so sharp, cut my fingers a couple of times on it.
