Mouse is ok. Software is terrible: No Mac version, doesn't work well on Windows 8.1. Also, if you look inside installed software and included bmp files, you will be very surprised. Who does write software like that?

VladBAgreed. The Miniox software in general seems pretty meh. Bad support, only for Windows, doesn't work (detect mouse) if you virtualize Windows on a non-PC, and most of the stuff on their site seems to have been written in half broken engrish, which is hardly an issue compared to the seeming lack of software compatibility.
The mouse works wonderfully on every machine I've plugged it into, and I enjoy the actual mouse immensely. Great feel in my hand, great response, nice clicking feel. Not too loud.
Just, I'd like to be able to actually customize my mouse further without hunting down a dedicated PC laptop or box to set mouse profiles on. Yes, I am aware most people use or have PCs lying around, so don't flame me for whining about Windows or something.

soflyI've owned a variety of "gaming" mice and I definitely have my qualms about Mionix-however, as far as the customization options you're talking about, those are generally only available on Logitech devices at this price point. Razer will pretend its software will remap your mouse functions, however, it's so inconsistent that it's useless and actually damaging (example, you've re-mapping M4 to function as "ctrl+click" instead of back, but now when you use it in video games, not only does it trigger what you've mapped to M4 within the game, it also triggers ctrl and click, which may have a whole set of unexpected reactions). I have five gaming mice on various machines, and only the Logitechs have what I'd call real, universal remapping capabilities.
The real functional thing you'd be needing to change on this mouse, unless you're actually just complaining about colors (fair enough if you are), is your DPI, which can be changed on the fly (and you should get yourself accustomed to using those set increments with in-game sensitivities built around that). I'm not sure what else you'd be looking to do.

parsYeah, you're right about most companies boasting software that's better than it actually is. Mionix's software seems fine other than the "lack of compatibility," which is so small of a complaint it would never stop me from buying this mouse (which doesn't actually *depend* on the software)
Ultimately, I'd like to build a few different profiles with colors, and with the 2 thumb-click buttons doing what I want them to do. It wasn't hard to find a PC to do this with, that original comment was primarily me whining about PC only software.
For reference, I bought a second Naos 7000 and am deeply in love with the mouse :)
