Thanks again for joining this drop! With your help we were able to make it successful for the community. We've just submitted the group's order with the vendor for the MiPOW Playbulb Rainbow and they are working hard to prepare it for shipment.

Domestic bound orders will be shipped directly from the vendor to you. Tracking for these will be provided as soon as the orders are released.

International orders will be bundled together and shipped out for our warehouse. This will happen the same time the domestic orders are released. Once we receive tracking for this shipment we will forward it to our receiving team so they can get your orders turned around as soon as they arrive.

We will stay in touch with the vendor and update the group as soon as we receive confirmation.

Thanks for your patience and expect an update from us on 9/29 or sooner if something comes up
Any idea when the ship date will be?
I have one of these. Its awesome!
I was wondering how long these bulbs last if used continuously (daily). In the description, it says it lasts 30 years, but that just sounds like if it is not used ever, then it might work after 29 years.
I own 3 of these. They're pretty much the cheapest option you can have for RGB wireless lighting, of course with some pretty hefty consequences. The app is just barely laggy enough to be irritating, connecting to the bulbs always takes a while, sometimes they randomly disconnect or don't show up, and the interface for controlling the colors is horrible.

Something to be wary of is that the white light is much brighter than the colored lights, and they vary in brightness. I have a moderate-sized apartment (30m2), and three bulbs. On white, without any other lighting, I'd describe the lighting as slightly dim. On blue, the room is quite dark with hints of blue light. With pink/red/green, the room is slightly less dark but still dark.

Each bulb can light a space about three square meters well; my bathroom is slightly bigger than this. I put one bulb in it and on white mode it is lit well. On color mode, of course, it is dim, but right on the border of acceptable.

The physical hardware product is very nicely designed and looks beautiful, to the extent that you might actually prefer exposed bulb lamps/fixtures.

Although it doesn't really make sense to me, I've bought more, due to arrive tomorrow. They're cheap enough, semi-hackable, look nice, and if you buy enough you can overcome the dimness problem.

They're far cheaper elsewhere though, check eBay.

Feel free to ask me anything about them.
Got mine in the mail. Really like it so far.

$37.49 USD shipped to Canada. Bestbuy sells these now for $40 CND and I don't need to wait over 1 month for it.
Not impressed.
"But the app ruins EVERYTHING. I would stay away from this just because of the app. "
I have same feelings.
Yooyoo
I recently picked up the PlayBulb Sphere @ Bestbuy and I don't think the app is that bad. But I never saw the previous versions to really judge. Better than some other RGB Bulb apps I've seen.
Never seen these before - what a cool idea!
280 lumens seems low to me, am I wrong?
Also, is there a way to control them outside the app? I'd like to make my own central control(say a Raspberry Pi or something similar).
I can't seem to find documentation on their website.

Yes, it is unofficial.

its actually pretty bright. about the same as a 60 watt light bulb.
I have the Playbulb Sphere, which is a RGB LED glass sphere. It's really beautiful. The colors are nice, the quality of the glass is good, it's diffused nicely...

But the app ruins EVERYTHING. I would stay away from this just because of the app. Get yourself some LiFX bulbs or something (you could also get Hue, yes, but LiFX bulbs are brighter and more color-accurate, and don't require a $60 Hue Bridge). At least you can use LiFX with IFTTT, SmartThings, Echo, etc. This thing requires you to use an app that, if my Sphere weren't so beautiful, would be a dealbreaker. Considering there are other bulbs on the market, I would never spend $30 on this.
Is it possible to use the app to program this lightbulb? I want to make my own "Wake Up Light" and this would be perfect if I could set up custom colors at specific times

I'm not sure you can do that. I have the MiPOW candle not the bulb, but the app I think is the same. Basically, all it lets you do is pick the colour, brightness, or set one of a few pre programmed patterns. It's also kind of clunky interface. If you are really determined you might be able to find another way to control the playbulb though. Or you could maybe set the colour you want to wake up with and put the bulb in a lamp with a timer.
Hope this helps. :)

The Amazon page says that there is a timer function
