Can someone explain to me why two pieces of leather glued together with snaps installed is $140? Is there a gold middle layer that wasn't mentioned?

rhinocerosbladderI'm a leatherworker myself, with my own line of these valet trays... even using Horween leather and brass hardware (which I do), they don't cost a quarter of the MSRP that Miraki is asking.

rhinocerosbladderHaha - not at all. It's one thing to pay more for handmade or items with a lifetime warranty, I'm always happy to do that. But expensive for the sake of being expensive doesn't make much sense to me.
I looked up the maker's site, the price here seems accurate...

rllamarcaYeah link me! I just got my first leather valet tray a month ago actually, and the walls/sides are... floppy, to say the least? It's just not satisfying to use and feels flimsy.

Some of the leathers I use for this are softer than others - Oxblood and Rose are the stiffer tempered ones. I can also do them in veg tan, or double the leather up if rigidity is a priority.

rllamarcaI like how you have different sizes. I find the ones that Massdrop advertise here are too small. Most not big enough to accommodate a standard-size pen without them hanging off.
