Product Description
From Mitchell & Johnson, an exciting new hi-fi company out of London, the GL2 allows you to enjoy the sound of an electrostatic headphone without having to own a specialized electrostatic amplifier. It does this with an electret driver, which works like an electrostatic driver but is permanently charged using a special diaphragm that can store and utilize this charge in everyday use Read More

If you want to upgrade the earpads, which i recommend, you can join the Dekoni earpads drop and buy the AT M50X model. I received mine and they fit nicely and are more comfortable. ...Now with Dekoni nuggets !

DenisFThank you! The stock pads are quite thin and I can feel the upper part of my ear pressing against the headphone driver (or whatever is right behind the black cloth). As a result, I haven't been able to sit with these for an extended amount of time because it's a bit distracting.

Received the GL2 today, first impression, great! Solidly built plus love the wooden cups. For $70, can't complain for what I've paid for. Hope the sound doesn't disappoint.

Mine came in 3 days ago. They're not up to par with my HD 6XXs, and I never expected them to be. But after about 50 hours of burn-in they're better than they were in their initial delivery state. I'll be letting the burn-in go through the weekend. I've never had cans that required this, so I'm just using a mix of music from a wide range of genres on a loop. Any tips for this? Also, like several people, I feel the pads and cable should be replaced. I'll try the Brainwavz pads, but does anyone have a cable they like and can recommend?

Thank you! Accidentally buying the wrong pads is such a hassle.

cwelton17No problem. They fit fine but they take a little bit of effort to get them on the headphone cups.

Just received mine unit. Sound emphasis is on the high & mid - clear & smooth. Shy on the bass. My unit however has a problem, there is a "rattling" sound on the left side when there are low/strong bass - like a torn woofer. Anyone has this same problem. Any advise.

I have had these for about 4 days, have had them burning in around 50 hours now. I am really enjoying the mid-centric presentation. I have found that the Brainwavz velour angled pads create a more realistic sound. I tried my other leather and pleather pads and the velour sounds better to me. I am also still experimenting with felt pads to tame the treble down some, hopefully that will calm down with more burn-in time. The GL2s also upscale nicely, they sound good with my portable setup, but sound awesome (already) with my desktop setup. I am also looking to replace the cable, they need a slim 3.5mm connector to connect, not easy to find. All in all, a great bargain for 69.99.

maakheruMany people use one of those very short cellphone extension cables. They have a very small connector that will fit the GL2 and a few inches of wire with a female 3.5mm trrs on opposite end. These adapters allow plugging headphones into cellphones, while in a case. Even though the GL2 have a trs connector, the trrs works fine. Then any cable size in reason can be used.

I received mine last week. The walnut parts look very beautiful and even if the plastic parts feel a bit cheap, for the price paid the overall aesthetic is okay. It is too early to comment on their sound performance, not used them enough . I joined the Dekoni earpads drop and bought the AT M50X sheepskin earpads to replace the GL2 ones and also need to replace the very stiff cable which is not pratical to use on the move. If another member has a recommendation i would appreciate.

Got these in yesterday and I must say, my initial impressions even with the replacement Brainwavz ear pads was quite disappointing, BUT, after seeing so many reports of these needing a very long burn in time I proceeded with this step, and after only 28 hours of burning in time under their belt, they're blowing me away! I would have never predicted I'd be saying this (especially after their sound quality out of the box), but they're outperforming my Sennheiser 58x easily, and if the reported 200 hours is needed for burn in, then I'm even more intrigued what they will sound like then. Now, having said all of that, let's make something very clear, their build quality is, umm, nowhere near the build quality of the Sennheiser 58x, not even close, and this doesn't just effect something superficial, this also affects fitment, as the over ear speakers only swivel up and down, and have absolutely no movement side to side, which means my Brainwavz angled pads aren't as functional as they are on my Sennheiser 58x, meaning I'm definitely (already ordered) a non angled set Brainwavz pads because of this. Also, the sound signature is GREATLY impacted by better earpads, and in my opinion a much needed upgrade. Now, obviously sound trumps everything (in my opinion) regarding headphones, but I'm relatively concerned these won't stand the test of time due to the lack of build quality. In the end, these were DEFINITELY worth the $69.99 in my case and I'm very happy I decided to take a chance on these.

g0ldl10nI agree, the plastic on these feel real flimsy and the stock pads are pretty bad. My ears arent big and their are touching the drivers. Kinda disappointed in the sound out of box but I'm gonna burn them in. I can't believe these were £299 when they came out with this build quality but for $69.99 its whatever.

I joined the drop and would like to know if we can replace the earpads on these headphones , does someone knows ? I would like to try the Focal Elex earpads which seems of similar dimensions even if it involves some tinkering

DenisFYes you can but not sure about the Elex pads which have a special fixation system. The GL2 model has the same fit as these headphones: SONY MDR-CD900st / 7506 / CD700 / V6 Audio Technica ATH-MSR7 / M20X / M30X / M40X / M50X / WS1100 / PRO5MK3 / DSR7BT / SR9 / DSR9BT maxell MXH-MD5000 Beyerdynamic DT-250 YAMAHA HPH-MT8 / MT120 SENNHEISER HD280 PRO MK2 TAGO STUDIO TAKASAKI T3-01 Pioneer SE-MSST-K / HRM-6 PRO Mitchell and Johnson GL1 / JP1 SOUNDWARRIOR SW-HP10 / HP11 / HP20 ULTRASONE Signature Studio / DJ / HFI-580 JVC HA-MX100-Z /MX10-B /CLASS-S WOOD HA-SW01 / SW02 Basically Brainwavz pads fit on them, angled leather makes the sound less congested in my own experience. Yaxi stPad2 (pleather + alcantara hybrid) got 4.5/5 here: https://twitter.com/i/moments/913026736090005504
