Very tempting for the price but so few reviews out there. Intrigued that some folks here prefer these to Sennheisers. Trying to figure out whether it's just hype or are these really hidden gems?
dgt5I reviewed the gl1's, I loved the sound, but I sold those due to the toyish build quality, I am considering these. In the sennheiser family I do have hd650, momentum on ears and iems, gl1's from memory sound just as good as some sennies, but they are different. Can't really be more specific since I sold them, but it was good enough that I'm willing to buy Mitchell Johnsons that are built with better materials. Hope that helps.
Kuma006In my experience, the GL2 improved a lot after burn-in. At that point, a completely different headphones. But it takes many hours to improve. Finally, I got a decent performance. It is light and nice looking too. Cups are real wood but I'd like less plastic on these headphones. I tried GL2 with Accuphase, WooAudio WA7, PrimaLuna and Triode amplifiers, Iphone, and other portables. Some people compare this one with the Sennheiser HD6nn, a 300-ohms, open. Though the Senn is better, I would compare M&J against 32-ohm closed portable: V-Moda XS. I prefer V-Moda: better built and sound definition. But different price... I think that for a USD70 budget the GL2 is OK. You must consider that I am speaking about the units I own only and personal preferences.
