It says its tuned especially for dj and live use, would it be good for gaming and music? Should i just buy the HD 6XX instead or are these a good choice?
Rebehle420That's a closed vs. open headphone for one thing. These JP1 headphones will have a lot better sound isolation while the 6XX won't have any to speak of. I own the 6XX and I'm not a huge fan of them because I feel it lacks sub bass. From the few reviews I can find for this JP1 headphone it looks to have a more forward bass response. Also amping is big difference here. The 6XX requires an amp with a decent amount of power while the JP1 looks like it should be pretty easy to drive off of a phone or built in sound source, although I'm sure it would benefit from a good amp as well. I also wouldn't game with the 6XX. It has a very close, "inside your head," soundstage with a focus on mids (not a super useful frequency for gaming). But since the JP1 are closed they probably aren't going to have a super large soundstage either. So just based on a comparison of the two I would say that the JP1 would probably be a better fit (they are also half the price of the 6XX), although there are a lot of factors with your sound taste and situation that I don't know.

Rebehle420Have a look at the Thinksound On2 here on Massdrop as well.
Rebehle420If electronic music is what you listen to, I would definitely stay away from the 6XX. It doesn't have the sub bass ability to present bass heavy music accurately, IMO. These JP1 headphones might be a good fit, especially since they are tuned for DJ use. Although, I haven't bought them yet so I can't say for certain. I quite enjoy my Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro for electronic music but they have pretty aggressive highs, especially around 10k that bother a lot of people. The DT 770 Pro are similar although they have their treble spike a little lower in the frequency range (8k, I think) and they trade the more mid bass thump of the 990 for a better extended sub bass slam. The Audio-Technica M50X is another option. They are kinda of cross between the DT 990 and the 770, with the mid bass of the 990 and the treble of the 770. Although, I think Beyerdynamic's offerings are technically superior to the M50X but are much less portable. You could also look at the Status Audio CB-1. They are better than the M50X, IMO, (and cheaper) and have a nice bass and treble response and are quite comfy (if you like pleather earpads) but I had to sell mine because they were too small for my head, which was a shame because I really liked them. The M1060C modded to be open with some better earpads have a wonderful bass extension and texture but they are quite a bit more money than these and I don't know if stock they would be the best for electronic music. All in all, I would say that giving the JP1 or the CB-1 a try is a really good option, or you could explore Beyerdynamic's offerings depending on what you need. I hope that helps.
