I was really disappointed when I received and first listened to the JP1's. Wasted $109?! Give me (and the cans) a moment. I encountered the same problem as most with the earpads. I ordered immediately the Brainwavz (B00OLKV5LI) pads and it makes an enormous impact in comfort (sound and soundstage - more on this later). In the mean time I "primed" them with about 100 hours of "4k pink noise" from YouTube. What a difference! While I also own a pair of Meze 99 classics (purchased for $309 on Amazon) and the Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 6XX Headphones, I prefer the JP1's. I do not own a headphone amplifier, I'm not a headphone person but I do not want to burden my wife and two boys with unwanted "noise". I drive them from my Onkyo DP-X1 and LG V20 (mostly classical, world and jazz music - yes, I know these are so called DJ headphones but at $109 I said "What the heck!" ) and use at least 16 bit 44.1 khz bit rate through Poweramp (full version) . My home system is a pair of Magnepan 1.7, a REL R205 subwoofer powered by a April Music Aura Note V. 2 sourced from a dedicated music server consisting of a Mac mini, Audirvana with dedicated system and database SSDs. I have no financial or other interests in this matter (I already ordered a second pair from the most recent drop). One thing to note, this are not as easy to drive as the Meze and almost as hard as the 300 Ohm Senn HD 6XX. Maybe the electet-electrostatic diaphragm has lost some of it's charge?! I don't know but these are definitely KEEPERS. Give these a chance and you might end up loving (or hating) them. Do not forget to enjoy the music along! Peace!

shlitzuIt seems like people are either loving or hating them. I personally really liked them. Especially for the price.

JimagineIt seems hard but if you keep rotating it, you'll get it on in no time.

shlitzuHello, You seem to know a lot about these cans. Are the replacement pads from Brainwave hard to switch out?? Never did this before but willing to learn. Also how it the stock cable??? Does it need to be replaced?? I live on a fixed income so don't want to get too crazy LOL. How do you do the "4K pink noise" thang :)??? Thanks, Bob

jonRockjon, Thanks for the information!!! Do they come with instructions?? I have never replaced pads before. I am real good with ear tips LOL. Do you have any recommendations on an aftermarket cable?? I am running the 4K pink noise on them right now.

Bob3600They don't come with instructions, but they are easy to replace. You just got to peel the old ones off with a little force. Then insert one side of the new pad and work your way around the ear cup until it's all the way on. You'll know when it's on correctly because you'll be able to rotate the pad without it falling off. I'm not sure what kind of replacement cable to get. I've been searching but can't find one.

jonRockSorry about the lame questions. Do they stick on with some sort of adhesive?? There has to be a decent cable out there. I will look around and see if I can come up with one.

Bob3600Lol. It's all good. No they do not use adhesive. There is a sleeve that the ear cup fits into.

Bob3600The pads are not hard to change even though it seems so. I do not feel the need, nor tried, different cables. For braking them in go to YouTube, type in '4k pink noise" and choose a long one. I did the 10 hour file. Do not forget to connect the headphones and to use moderate volume. Good luck and the njoy!

shlitzuThanks for the advice. I have had the cans hooked up to the pink noise for 2 days now. I could not find the model ear pads from Brainwave. Do they have a name and also a number to ID them??? I think a better cable will help some also.
