I actually use my moleskine notebook I got on here a while back with a lamy al-star daily at work. I've bought some rhodia ones and there's no comparion, they're a dream to write on especially the 2000 I recently got. BUT they're so expensive I don't want to just use it for tracking my hours as a I work on projects throughout the week. And moleskine works "good enough" and were like half the price of the rhodia so moleskine is what's at work while my rhodia notebooks are still in their shrinkwrap. I've been hoping the rhodia drop adds a dotpad in a smaller size than the 8.5x11 or whatever size the large one is.
At this point I bought a bunch of high quality copy paper. Check various fountain pen forums and there's a whole community of people building their own notebooks for much less than any of the commercial notebooks out there. May not be ideal if you are doing important documentation but for jotting down notes I'll happily use a ream of... forget the details but it was some HP color laserjet paper. It's commonly recommended on forums whatever it is.
