Product Description
In 1944, Swiss engineer Hans Hilfiker designed what would go on to become the Official Swiss Railway Clock, which featured an easy-to-read dial with large white stick markers and a bright red seconds hand. About 40 years after the clock’s debut, Mondaine received official license from the Swiss Federal Railways to use this iconic design as a tribute to Swiss watchmaking tradition Read More

The crown fell off of mine! Am I responsible for getting this repaired now?

Mine arrived dead as well. Very disappointing. Massdrop should refund a portion of the amount paid.

Mine also arrived dead on arrival. The bid timer second hand just twitches, and the bottom hour hand moves rapidly around and around. I want a refund.

Mine is OK. No problem. The little second hand does not work for you?
Arrived dead. Or is there something I neglected to do?

Alan_From_New_YorkMine arrived DOA too. I suspect that Mondaine had a lot of stock that had been sitting on the shelf for some time (perhaps especially the black version which I gather was less popular) and some or all were stored without the crowns pulled out. I replaced the battery myself (I don't plan to swim with it and Massdrop didn't include a warranty in any case it seems) and mine now works as expected, but that's not really acceptable for a new watch in my opinion. Given that it went for $99 instead of the c.$550 MSRP then it's still a good deal even with the cost of a battery change (and the VAT charged by customs in my case), but it's disappointing if Mondaine store their unsold stock with dead batteries which could potentially leak. Living in the UK it would have been a real hassle for me to return the watch if it was faulty.

Anyone know if the case is polished or brushed? It appears the watch w/ the white dial has a polished finished (in pictures on Amazon and Google images), whereas the black dial comes with a brushed finished case. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Would like to get the black dial, though bot if its brushed. Cheers!
ZereldoI own a different model (Night Vision) with the black dial, and it has a brushed case. I obviously can't confirm for sure that this model is the same, but seeing as how there is only so much variation in Mondaine's design language I think it would be safe to assume that this, too, has a brushed case.

Zereldoi can confirm it has a brushed case with the black face. [their website confirms it , and from personal handling of one]

The reason the white face isn't actually being offered (despite being shown) is because, and this often applies to the more expensive pens offered, is because MD is trying to move the stuff that didn't move! In this instance, the white sold at retail and the black didn't. Why would that be? Well Google "Swiss Railway Clock" and see how many black clocks come up. Where MD's pen offerings are concerned, fountain pens normally out sell ballpoints (and their snooty cousins, roller balls), four to one in pen stores, but margins are so good, manufacturers don't mind making rollerballs just in case-- even if they have to dump their excess at well below retail (don't worry, nobody's loosing money in that game). In other words, if you want' a deal, you take what's left/available. You want the good stuff, you pay full-price.

RayFI actually wanted the black dial over the white dial (so this clearance thing actually works out for me nicely 😃), but I can see the point you're trying to make. The iconic design does look nice also.

HQD8Trying to make? I'm not trying to make a point--I am making a point! Doesn't mater if you bought it on clearance (or even if you get the methodology)--as long as you're happy with your purchase, the system is working...

Why does the watch in the picture above now have a white dial? At the time of my purchase, the dial was black.
