I have the bigger version of the EVO Big Date (40 mm, uses Ronda 519 instead of 509) from Massdrop from 2.5 years ago. My two cents:
Pros: - Never had any problem with the crown as mentioned here, but mind you, this is a very slightly different movement. - Readability is excellent despite having no lume. Black hands on white dial produce perfect contrast even in low light conditions. - It looks really nice and caught eyes more than ten times more expensive but more discreet watches. - The 5-minute/hour markers are applied (raised above the dial), looks nice.
Neutral: - The second hand did not hit all of the markers, as mentioned below. However, this is standard and to be expected on any "1 second increment" quartz (except smooth second hands such as Bulova Accutron II or Mondaine Stop2Go). Here it is accentuated by having a large circle on the end of the hand, but there is nothing to do about it except going mechanical (there are Swiss-railway-style automatics from Mondaine, too) or Stop2Go. - Under certain light conditions, the markers had very distinguishably different shade of black then the hands themselves. Most noticeable under very sharp and cool (= blueish) LED lightning in our elevator, but most of the time it wasn't too noticeable or disturbing. In the elevator it was very disturbing, on one hand, you don't spend a long time there, but on the other hand, every single day you leave your apartment and check time...
Cons: - The caseback is snap-on and ultra-difficult to close even using case/crystal press. Considering this is only a 30 m water resistance watch, it is really strange as you can typically close even 100 m watches (e.g. Raymond Weil Tango) using only your palms... Looks like poor manufacturing tolerances. - The watch simply died after a year. When it stopped so soon, I thought: well maybe it was sitting somewhere in a warehouse for too long and the battery simply died. However, even after changing the battery (there was no leakage), it was just dead. On one hand, spare Ronda 519 movement is maybe 40 USD shipped, on the other hand, I cannot pull myself to order it and spend time on the watch, when I can just as easily buy another complete watch for 50-60 USD discounted on eBay (see comments below) and I also cannot pull myself to order that another watch for 60 USD, now I would rather get Stop2Go (the reviews on its quality are mixed too, but that is one-of-a-kind unique movement and worth getting despite the trouble).
So just expect only what you can expect from Swiss Made Quartz for the price...
