Never got my watch, carrier lost my parcel! Massdrop refunded me my purchase Thats too bad... looked like a nice watch Maybe next drop..
Been wearing mine for a week now and I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised by how nice it is for 99$. After reading all the criticism on finish and quality, I have to disagree and say that fit and finish of the clock is better than some of my seikos or orients.
I'm into automatics, but so far it keeps time great, no hassle - no complaints!
The date wheel is fantastically responsive and better than watches in even the 500$ range that I have.
Glad I jumped on it even with the criticisms; I went in with low expectations only to be surprised by a cute watch at a cheap price.
My own complaint is the leather band seems to be soft/ prone to wear; it also will get dirty easily. I'll be swapping in a nato strap.
Received my watch earlier this week. Loved it. Something really interesting I noticed though.
If your watch is tilted downwards, or just flat on any surface, there is a chance that the second hand will go UNDER the minute hand, thus stopping the movement. It happened twice - first time was accidental while second time was intentional on my part to confirm the phenomenon. Basically, the red circle on the second hand has weight, which causes it to dip downwards a tiny bit.
Really only a problem when you take off your watch and leave it on night table or something. I generally "hang" my watches. I advise you all to do the same if ever you encounter this.
It's an odd design quirk, but at the same time... it's pretty neat.
how much was this watch selling for?

99$

Dayyym. That's a must have.
I received my Mondaine yesterday, and I was very pleased with the watch. The presentation was nicely packaged with an insert explaining the history. The watch is a little on the lighter side, seeming you are used to heavier metal banded chronograph watches, but for its weight it still feels well built and made. My battery did come in working order with the correct time and date set. The band is comfortable, no complaints, though I may have a custom leather band made after wearing it a few times. Maybe something a little darker. Overall great timepiece, nothing I would go camping with, but it does look good with a suit! Cheers.

its a sticker, peel it off
Are you really referring to the sticker protecting the back plate???
Nice looking watch, unfortunately it's turned up with a dead battery .
RE: dead batteries. Just opened mine to find that the battery is indeed dead. Pretty disappointing as this is the first Drop I've participated in to have a defective product arrive. Otherwise the watch looks nice. I wasn't expecting fantastic build quality for the price paid; however it does deliver on style.
doktorhyde
Hey @doktorhyde, sorry to hear that! We had extra checks in place to make sure that none of them arrived dead, however it looks like some slipped through the cracks. Reach out to Support via your Transactions page and they will resolve it with you.

Meh. Automatic please.
I love this watch except for the awful kerning of the logo. The Swiss are known for better design than this.
I'd like to ask people who previously joined this drop. Have any of you changed the strap? And if so, was it a big hassle? The only video I can find online make it seem rather difficult.
Jagr
Changing the strap is very easy if you have a watch spring bar tool. I changed the strap on mine in just a minute or two.

Oh snap. Thanks meng. I'm new to this watch game.
Bought this watch last summer and was really disappointed with the build quality overall. The watch looks and feels cheaply made. Additionally, mine had a defective second-hand (did not align with chapter ring index markers). Caveat emptor.
stephen.scharf
Interesting. I've been reading reviews online and generally, with this particular watch, one of the occurring comments is the noticeably poor build when seen up close. Also, the second hand apparently does not line up with the second tick.
Jagr
Yes, with this particular model, the build quality is what I would characterize as "cheesy". And the second hand does not line up with the second index tick make. Drove me crazy. Overall, disappointing when you factor in the price, as you can get an Orient Mako, Ray, etc. for the same price on sale or, any day of the week for $35 more, and it is a MUCH better made watch. No comparison.
I'd like to know if the issue with the battery has been resolved, or should we expect this to continue with this drop as well?
Hey i just received my watch and it seems to not he working?? I set the time on it and nothing seems to be ticking or anything, anyone know why?

Generally really bad for a quartz watch to have a dead battery inside for a longer time period. What is the compensation in case someone receives one with a dead battery?
ERENTE
@Jagr We just verified with the vendor that all of the watches are working. None of the watches should arrive with a dead battery. However, more generally speaking, if you do receive a defective product from Massdrop, you can contact Support and they will work with you to resolve it.

Would be interested in the drop if not for the fact that the black strap isn't an option.
daaz
I saw this too. But the Amazon one is not with manufacture warranty. The one with manufacture warranty is also 124.99. http://www.amazon.com/Mondaine-White-Black-Leather-A627-30303-11SBB/dp/B000AR7ALK/ref=owo_wa?_encoding=UTF8&smid=A191F1AQT3JCJB
My battery was dead too...
Exactly the same problem as above. I have set date and time but hands are not moving.
Mine arrived today. But it is not running as I expected for a Quartz watch. I set date and time. But red second hand is not moving.

Yes, the battery was dead
Taras
@Scoredtx @TOPT If your watch arrived with an old battery, please go to your Transactions and reach out to Support. We've discussed how we can resolve the issue so please let us know if this happened to you!
We've also discussed this with the vendor and there shouldn't be an issue moving forward.
Great news group! The vendor has let us know that the group's order was picked up and is on its way to our warehouse in New Jersey now. Based on the tracking provided these are scheduled to come in tomorrow. Our warehouse team has been forwarded tracking info and will be standing by, ready to get these packed up and turned around as soon as they come in.
Sometimes shipments get delayed en route, not to worry as we will keep the group posted throughout the process and notify you all if anything causes delay.
Thanks for your patience and expect an update from us by the end of the day Pacific Time on 10/29 or sooner if something comes up.

Any lume on this watch? And does the second hand actually hit all markings correctly?
Is it possible to arrange when this will arrive? I'm away until the 31st.
Blue45323
Looking on the description page, it says that they started with 160 watches. The drop is still active, and only 12 have been bought so far, so yes it's still available (it will be for another 2 days at the time I write this, per the "timer" under the MSRP. As far as when it will arrive, again the description page has the answer. They're quoting an estimated shipping date of the 30th.
Therefore, assuming you place your order within the next 2 days or before the remaining 148 watches are sold - whichever comes first - then the assumption is that Massdrop will receive the bulk order around the 30th and ship you yours at about the same time. If you're away until the 31st, you should have no problems as it will have only just shipped to you when you get back.
Is this still avaliable?
How anyone can imagine strapping a railway station clock to their wrist and then consider that refined and classy is truly beyond me. And the SBB logo on the dial adds insult to injury in my eyes. Maybe it has to do with me now residing in this country and being regularly exposed to the sight at stations but it is hard for me to think of anything lacking more in spirit and refinement than the idea of replicating this kind of embodiment of a utilitarian device on my wrist.
I like the taupe band, myself. Not to everyone's taste, but I think it looks quite nice with the white face, black and red hands.
BTW how did 30m/99ft water resistance come to mean: withstands rain and splashes of water, but not showering or submersion (from Amazon)?
In my neck of the woods, that's called a bald faced lie.
Who came up with that labeling convention, anyhow?
K.T.N
The 30 m is a static water pressure in a vacuum test. When you move the watch underwater while swimming even close to surface, the dynamic pressure is significantly higher. In a shower, hot temperature also makes the case expand and loosen the seal, while soap decreases surface tension of the water making it easier to enter through seal.
