Product Description
This cable is designed for Apple devices, such as the iPhone 5, which use the Lightning connector. This cable is MFI certified so all your Apple devices will recognize it as an official Apple accessory, just like they would with a $20 Apple branded Lightning cable Read More

What's the deal here? $10 + $6 for shipping. You can get this cable and other Apple-certifieds on Amazon for less than $15 shipped (Prime members). When shipping is more than half the cost, there's no incentive to buy, Massdrop.

$10 shipping to canada, LOL. For that price you get a genuine Apple cable.

At 3' length doesn't seem like that good of a deal. Also I've read a lot of comments on monoprice's site about frayed ends. I went with another site (I won't mention the site but it will probably be right after monoprice if you search for it) and it's an apple certified 6' cable. But the big complaint with that one is the connector is big. Not a problem with my case but I've had no issues with fraying with that one

Not fair! If you know of a brand of cable that works with the new iPads and doesn't fray, you should let us know what it is!

BigSkyGuyWell since tater_tot said it below, it's indeed amazon's "basics" line of generic cables. Can't vouch for ipad but it works with iphone 5s and ios7

I've had two 10' cable whose connectors have separated from the cables, exposing the wires. I've continued to use them until they actually failed due to the cost if these suckers. When they fail I contact Monoprice and they cheerfully send out a replacement and an apology. Can't beat that. I've purchased 2 more because I've bought another iPad. I have 1 cable in the master bedroom, 1 in the guest bedroom, 1 in my office, and 1 spare. Can't have enough if these, let me tell you.
The cables are recognized by the iPads unlike cables, supposedly Apple certified, that don't work on the iPad Air but did work on the "old" iPad mini. Don't really know what the change was for the newer cables, but I get that error messages with cables I had previously purchased before the "New iPad Mini" or the "iPad Air" were released.
These cables are very good except for that separation around the collar of the connector. Only thing I can figure that causes this failure is that it's connected to charge while I continue to use the iPad. This is the specific purpose I got them, because they're long enough to use the iPad while charging it at the same time. I was thinking of wrapping the connector ends with either electrical or duct tape to make them stiffer and to delay the separation due to use.
I would continue to purchase these cables, available in both black and white, because of their higher quality than the other cables out there. Also, they are thicker in diameter than the original Apple cable or third party cables. That makes them more durable than the other cables.
Monoprice does honor their lifetime guarantee, no matter how many times you use it to replace these cables due to the separation, and no matter what size it is. Not too many companies can say they do this, right?
So buy the cable already, once you know what size it is. If it's shorter than 10', then I'd pass on it.
Hope this helps.
