How do you guys think these stack up against the Simple Audio Listen speakers that are dropping right now in terms of audio quality?

anthony477I don't personally know but i could tell you right now that the 5" Monoprice should get a lot louder as they are 70W to each speaker and the simple audio is 40W to each speaker. As for reviews for this speaker set i couldnt find much but on the head fi forums people have said that they are actually pretty remarkable sound quality for how cheap they are (http://www.head-fi.org/t/647965/monoprice-just-came-out-with-5-3-studio-monitors-165-75/30)

anthony477Apples and oranges. tl;dr: These should have significantly better sound quality, if you want to hear the music accurately. The point of "studio monitors" is to reproduce sound with some degree of accuracy (more or less. ish.). Some people claim this doesn't make for fun listening -- but I listened to music on original M-Audio BX5's (+ sub) at my desk for years, and I would still take those over any set of passive speakers that I've heard (anywhere near the price point).
Caveat: I have not heard either pair of speakers in question. I can't guarantee that these sound as good as my old M-Audio's, to which the Monoprice set seems to be suspiciously closely-related.
Also, PROTIP: anything labeled "computer speaker" or "Bluetooth" is to be avoided if you value sound quality. (If you value convenience more than sound quality, go to town.)

ManyThingsI see, thanks. I read some reviews of the M-Audios that described them as very flat and accurate for computer speakers, and both are powered and around the same price point, so just wasn't sure how different these really were.
