I have this pen (with the gold furniture) and I'd like to try and reason with everyone (no mater how few) who are "Salivating like a Pavlov Dog" at the mere site of a MB on MD. Look, I have this pen (somebody gave it to me), and it's a nice pen, but aside from the snappy white bit at the top of the cap, there is nothing special about it--it's just a damn ballpoint! Save your money and buy yourself something else that's actually worth $240.
RayFI have to agree. I have a trio of MB (Le Grand fountain pen and rollerball and a classique ballpoint) and this is just a ballpoint and I almost never use it. Hell, I rarely use the rollerball. If you want to blow a couple of benjamins, then there are some really nice fountain pens on here - go for a Grifos or a Montegrappa or a Pelikan or a couple of Allegory. Or save up a bit and buy (from a dealer) an MB fountain pen. This is bit like wanting to drink champagne but settling for a really nice cava.

parsonsdj1Too true! I admit that I have succumbed to a few tempting numbers here (last one of note was the M1000 drop). But I'm forcing myself to slow down on pens (and ink) for a while (not that I'd turn a blind eye to a 159 drop), but I've come to that point in life where I have more pens than I can comfortably keep in rotation--and I've been neglecting my 51s--the pen that started it all for me...
RayFI’m with you, buddy. I got really into pens again a while back and I was out of control for a while. I’m going to try to keep of all but the most tempting, though I find the interesting woods and the metal kaweko sports and lilliputs way too tempting

parsonsdj1I'm really tempted by the kaweco liliput fireblue... :(

parsonsdj1Well you can't get in too much trouble with Kawekos (my sister is a big fan of them too), and after all, you don't really want to go "Cold Turkey" now, do you?!
AlicuraThat is a beautiful pen. I am a little in love with Kaweco. So small, so well made.
RayFI am struggling to resist the June Bride Something Blue right now. I have a copper, an aluminum, a stainless steel and a worn-effect blue stainless steel sport and that would fit right in. Love Kaweco - high quality nip, great construction, and pocket sized yet when posted big enough to write with. I think my favorite pen maker. Constantly in my daily rotation and right up there with my Parker, my Waterman and MB.

parsonsdj1I don't blame you, that's a very nice color and the matching ink makes a pretty irresistible package. Fortunately for me, the engraving makes it too "girly" for a manly-man like myself ;- ) By the way, that ink bottle looks suspiciously like a Sailor bottle and I tend to be a fan of their ink.
RayFYes, the engraving is putting me off. If it were just the color I'd be all over it.

parsonsdj1Dont get the the aluminium one however. I've suffered a fair bit of pitting on the section part of mine. No idea what caused it but go for one of the less reactive metals would be my recommendation.

FullObeansThere are certain ink formulations out there that will eat your pens alive--or at least parts of them! Years ago I bought a bottle of Noodlers Baystate Blue ink. I loved the color and filled a Lamy Vista and Safari with it. A week later the nib fell off the Vista while was writing! The next week the other one fell off the Safari--the same way. The ink had "dissolved" the little ears on the section that hold the nib in place! I've since replaced the pens, and I still have the Baystate Blue ink--so far, it hasn't eaten through the bottle!
