wow this gotta be one of the best drops ever. solid sterling silver trims, none of the cheapie plated stuff. and that 18k nib with softness unmatched in many modern pens. lovely would be an understatement. heirloom level. thx again massdrop!
what exactly is the difference between this and say a common fountain pen like the metropolitan or the Lamy Safari. Like, what justifies the price point of this fountain pen.
I think this would be an heirloom quality pen, but it depends on how you treat it. You could probably also get a metropolitan to last a long time, but I don't expect that anyone is going to be selling vintage metropolitans in 30 years. I do imagine that they'll be selling vintage Montegrappa pens.
You can always get a dud no matter the QC level, but Montegrappa is going to do a much better job of construction and details compared to the pens you've referenced.
video122001It's got Sterling Silver trims too. IIRC, the pen is hand turned, not injection molded. The QC and nib on this one is on a different level than a Safari, very similar in feel to my Pelikan m1000. This pen is medium sized but it's truly wonderful, I love mine.
