To me it looks like a Monteverde Giant Sequoia ... can be had for ~$70-$85 at various outlets. Put a $15 Goulet nib on it and you'll have a superior writer for a third of the price.

AdamGHI don't know if it looks 'pathetic' --but I am very surprised that a pen at $340 MSRP has a steel, not gold, nib.

It's a pity they're so spendy for a steel nib pen - I think the purple one looks amazing!
