Thw1990At $1K there are so many wonderful pens to be had, an all-bells-and-whistles Conid, for instance.
A lot of luxury fountain pens, go the converter route. I guess it's about minimizing pen-ink contact.
However, in this case... I mean it's a $5 converter, not a proprietary piece like Delta would use.
